I can't believe that it's only two weeks away. There's nothing like a big fight where you have no idea how long it will last. Most big fights are odds-on to go the distance, not the case here.
Don't you think it's the management that has met behind closed doors for negotiations?

I think most of the pre-fight hype for all fights are mostly for show. With these 2 and the history they have, I'm inclined to actually believe a large portion of it is genuine.

Will be awesome. Same type of feeling and nervousness as i had for Lewis-Tyson and Trinidad-Delahoya. I'm actually on the fence of flying to see it live, but might be a bit last minute.

Watching Klitschko vs. Lewis again. It's such a great hw fight, probably the best titlefight of the last 10+ years. Sad it had to end like it did, would have been an instant classic if it had not.

Yeah that fight was insane, my heart was going a million beats per minute because I was a huge Lewis fan. Lewis landed a massive uppercut about 50 seconds into round six and I still don't understand how Vitali took it (imagine if it had been Wlad!!). Despite all his wins this was definitely Vitali's defining fight, it was a shame it was stopped but that cut was horrific.

Did you have a big rooting interest in De La hoya - Trinidad? That fight was slightly before the time I became a boxing geek so I didn't watch it at the time, I think I would have definitely supported Tito though. I have watched the fight a couple of times and I'm guessing it must have been a big let-down at the time?

Regarding negotiations: I really have no idea, it was just something I assumed.

yeah was pretty big on tito, but i always rooted for Oscar too.. That was before Oscar turned into such a sissy. The hype for the fight however was huuuuge, and i still to this date think it was a much more important fight than the mayweather one.
Don't remember if it was a letdown. I was more just blown away by how Oscar could go from fighting so brilliantly to then just acting like a scared little rabbit for the second half of the fight.

another huge fight for me was hopkins vs. trinidad. That one was heartbreaking, but made me respect b-hop a lot.

Oscar running for the last few rounds was what I meant by it being a letdown. There can't have been many boxers who have faced as many big names as Oscar has:

Chavez (twice)
Trinidad
Mosley (twice)
Whitaker
Hopkins
Mayweather
Pacquiao

Not a bad list and I've probably forgotten some.

who is the older guy on friday night fights? he is the man wish he did basketball. He thought one of the judges scored bad so he said he should be sent to the commissioner and then be suspended without pay because he is an idiot. lol

I have very little familiarity with either boxer (don't pay a ton of attention to the HW division any more) and after watching that "face off" linked above, I'm hoping Haye loses by 1st round KO.

If you want boxing to move forward in the heavyweight division you should want a David Haye win.

He would fight Vitali in Oct/Nov time.

Aren't the Klitch's both going to retire soon anyway? Seems like their stale run at the top is going to be over and one way or another, the HW division should get a boost in the vacuum.

Vitali will, hes 40 years old.

I don't see why Wladimir would retire.
The Klitschkos are pretty much the only good thing about todays heavyweight scene, they could probably hold their own in any era. It is the opposition that is god damn horrible. Talk about it being stale when Chagaev will fight Chambers for the ring title.

Yeah for the good of the heavyweight division i shall hope for a cherrypicker with a big mouth who fight bums.

His best win is Mormeck. I'm not sure I'm THAT interested in Haye purely from his trashtalk (which is several notes below most "heels" in boxing).
He also can't stop talking about retiring. Not that i trust it but still.

I'll just hope for a Wlad win, and that Haye puts up a spirited enough effort that Vitali gets the chance too in the fall. After that I'm perfectly happy with having Haye stay in the lower top10 tier of hw's. Fighting guys like Arreola could be a lot of fun.

I hope he gets KO'd because i don't want yet another ****** who is a pain in the ass to put into good/big fights.

I also think Wladimir is more entertaining that than the average fan give him credit for. But i love watching Floyd box, so maybe im just weird.

is there ANY heavyweight prospect that is working it's way up with some great potential? or are we pretty much stuck with Tyson Fury?

doesn't really matter who he faced when he only managed to beat chavez and Whitaker in their mid 30's

The biggest name of boxing facing the best fighters without exception does matter. If that applied to Mayweather and Pacquiao boxing would be a lot more awesome.

Besides, you could easily make arguments for Oscar winning against both Tito and Shane. Oscars resume is solid, but he will not break any top50 atg list for sure.
