Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Marty in The Arena! Epic! It used to be some spot on an old Friday/Saturday night. Though the walk home used to be a right bastard.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

It must be closed about 7 years now. I was in it on the final night, no-one would leave, everyone sat on the dancefloor then proceeded to rip up the dancefoor.

Good times.

Lets get this ****ing fight started!

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Holy crappy defense batman! If Chavez ever fights anybody with any semblance of power, he will be stopped. Close fight, could've gone either way I had it a draw. But obv Chavez was gonna get the decision. Keep him away from Sergio tho

Froch won, but it was a pretty good fight and Johnson at 42 is a real warrior. Froch also showed off a pretty monster chin, him vs Ward should be interesting. Leaning slightly towards Ward via decision.

Froch and Johnson both have monster chins, two of the very best in the sport.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Everytime I watch a Carl Froch fight I just come away with it saying he has the best chin in boxing. Jim Watt was so tilting last night, has he never watched a Froch fight before? ****ing idiot.

Arum claims that Singapore offered PBF $65,000,000 this week to fight Manny...and that he turned it down.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I find it very hard to trust anything that comes out of Arum's mouth (same with pretty much every other promoter).

If the following is true.... Pacquiao has reportedly been offered $65 million for fighting (more like annihilating) Saul Alvarez.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Filipino newspapers are like tabloids, but Carlos Slim is a certified billionaire, so if he's a boxing fan, the $65MM offer could be legit. Alvarez loses, probably really bad, if this ever happens though.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I suppose it's kind of a no-lose situation. Everyone will say the fight is too early for him and that he will lose badly so his performance can only really exceed expectations.

It is also a lot better to lose to Pacquiao rather than some random light-middleweight. I guess it depends how long his management team think he can keep winning, and selling out arenas, before they have to put him a risky fight.

If this offer is real then Pacquiao would be completely insane not to take it.
