Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Pacquiao is an in and out fighter. Peekaboo style.
Not anything like hatton really.

To the poster above who said it would be more of the same. lol.
Floyd is a counterpuncher who can match Pacquiaos speed. He won't run like mosley.

I have no idea what this means. But in any event, Sergio is 20-25 pounds heavier than Pac and that fight is extremely unlikely to happen.

Floyd will fight in the fall after his legal issues are ironed out, and hopefully will fight Pac sometime in the first half of 2012.

Leg cramps for Pacquiao + Mosley being old and scared to fight = Boring fight.

Oh well. Maybe Floyd fights him now since Pacquiao didn't look that good? nahhhhh

it means sergio would be a drained ghost at 147 just like delahoya and morales was.

ofc its unlikely pacquiao fights martinez. actually it's impossible.

Morales fought Manny at 130. And they already fought 3 times.

So, like I said, your post made no sense. Morales wasn't drained at 147 because they fought at his natural weight of 130.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Pacquiao's going to fight JMM next, but who does everybody want to see him fight instead? There's no one left: Floyd's on vacation, Sergio's too big... Bradley? He gets KTFO Hatton-style, imo. Victor Ortiz? He's with Golden Boy so probably won't happen.

I'm pretty sure Morales never fought Pacquiao at 147. wtf are you talking about?
I said dlh and morales looked like complete **** against Pacquiao. Like ghosts with no energy.
Thats how Martinez would look if he cut to 147.

Well, if we're being realistic, who else is he going to fight in November? It ain't Mayweather, that's for damn sure. It won't be Martinez. It won't be anyone at 140 either. If he fought Marquez, I'm sure they'd negotiate a cutweight at around 143-144...no, it's not perfect and it probably contributes to a ****ty fight but what else is Pac supposed to do if he can't get PBF?

I never said I wanted it either, I just said he'd probably show a bit more panache in that fight than what we saw tonight. Besides, Marquez wants that fight, so whatever, give it to him. I don't care at this point, anything less than PBF vs. Pac will be a letdown.

Anything but a lightweight that is way past his prime.

Bradley or Ortiz would be fine. Or call out Mayweather.
I mean ****, even that gingermexican would be better than Marquez. Atleast that would be something new compared to the last 6 or so fights.

If hes going for a lightweight, Guerrero is a more interesting choice.
Outside of those there is none. Martinez i guess, since Pac is an 8-division champ, but ye... thats not gonna happen.

I think he should chase Mayweather in media. Going on ESPN and explaining to the world exactly what kind of tests hes willing to do, and call Mayweather out on it.
I guess it's not his "style" but i don't think Floyd will feel forced to fight with this reluctance Manny is showing (i don't know, i don't care, talk to my promoter)

I really don't see what a 143-144 catchweight would do. Thats mannys weight, and marquez is a lightweight at the most.

ye but atleast we could ask for a cool fight. manny vs marquez will be more of the same as he has had lately.
why not fight Ortiz? That would be a fun fight at least if probably a mismatch.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

A Marquez fight would be fine and is probably the best option unless Pac wants to sit around until 2012. JMM is coming off 2 good wins, and the weight limit is being blown out of proportion since Pac is going to be about 145 whether he fights at 135 or 147.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Agreed

JMM weighed in at 145 on fight night vs. Katsidis (who weighed in at 150+ on fight night). Pacquiao's going to be around 148 on fight night, so it's not a big difference.

JMM just needs to weigh the same he did for his last fight.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

So is Mosley going to go around for the rest of his life claiming to put Manny on the canvas? lulz. This was just proof that he wanted nothing more than a payday. Shane knew from the get go that he was never going to beat Manny. I at least give credit to Cheato for having the guts to fight. The next fight for Manny obv has to be Marquez even though it will end badly for JMM. Berto is out of the picture and PBF just isnt gonna happen. Ever.
I think half of the people watching went "who?" when they showed Ivey on the screen.

k, as much as I hate Mayweather, surely you have to understand that a possible 34-year prison sentence which is still unresolved means Floyd isn't fighting anyone in the near future. People who are talking about him fighting a tune-up in November must know something I don't, because with his load of legal issues, I have no clue how he's able to step into a ring anytime soon. And we haven't even talked about Roger's legal troubles.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

It just showed what happens when a guy comes at PBF. I agree Pacquiao is in and out as opposed to Hatton who just bullrushed Floyd. But Mosley showed you can get Manny to miss. PBF showed what happened when an aggressive fighter misses against him.

You can't think Manny throws less against PBF than he did tonight. This was probably a historically low punches-thrown fight for Manny. It's just, stylistically, an awesome fight. Those two being two naturals in their respective weight classes and the two best fighters in the world puts it to the stratosphere. At this point I'd probably pay $200 for this fight on ppv.

Oh, I've browsed this thread during the day, and it seemed like most people in here was under the opinion that Floyd was ducking Pacquiao for not signing to fight. So i guess his legal troubles is a legitimate excuse, and hes not ducking?
I still feel Manny should be more aggressive in his pursuit for the fight.

As for roger. Didn't he get community service?

Would love to see Manny come out on tv and volunteer to give PBF a 70-30 cut of the PPV revenue. Just start trolling PBF relentlessly.

The fight should've been hammered out immediately after the Cotto fight, which is when I made this OP. There was no reason for it to fall through back then, and I think people quite rightly saw Mayweather as the primary stumbling block in those negotiations. Their second set of negotiations last year also happened before the legal issues. So in both those scenarios, yeah, there were no real excuses. But now, meh.

It'd be nice to see, yeah. Arum deserves a ton of blame for this as well though. Actually, their whole management team. It's just a ****ing mess and they've pissed off more people than they've won over during the last 18 months. I honestly believe that now.

Maybe Pac is slow playing....he knew he was going to win this fight anyways so why not make it look like hes slowing down abit, Mayweather decides to fight Pac and gets destroyed? Meta game imo
