lol.

Yes i said he didn't have the balls to fight Martinez. I didn't say he didn't have no balls or w/e you said.
He won't fight Martinez because the risk is too great. Whats your problem?

Oh, the day Manny loses he will take a hit. So will Mayweather.
They will still be the biggest stars but ofcourse they will lose both Money and legacy-wise. Why do you think they avoid the fight otherwise? Because they are afraid of the pain?

Cliffnotes:

*I think Pacquiao is awesome.
*I don't think Pacquiao should fight Martinez.
*I think Martinez vs Pacquiao (or vs inactive Mayweather) would be ****ing awesome as a fan.
*I don't think Manny is a pussy.
*I don't think Manny is a legit 154lbs titleholder.
*Pacquiao is pretty far from being the GOAT even if he beats Floyd. Floyd is even further down the rankings.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Paris V Milan, first fight stopped in 2nd round because of a cut caused by accidental headbutt. (lots of blood on the Paris fighter)

Eamon O'Kane fight (representing Milan) is about to start.

fights are 6 rounds.

mostly agree with your cliffs 1up and i have no problem

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I think in years to come, when Pac and Floyd are long since retired, Pacquiao will be thought of as a legend along with others like Leonard and Duran. Mayweather will be placed in the group below - great but not legendary.

I wonder how well he will even be remembered in 30 years time? Try asking a general sports fan now about Pernell Whitaker, another defensive wizard, and I'm sure they will say "Who?"

OK, if Martinez fights Bute then? Would that make it better?

As a whole career, i would say Pacquiao is greater by far. But his best wins are long gone, and Martinez wins against Kelly Pavlik, Paul Williams and hypothetically "thebestsupermiddleweightintheworld" would be way more awesome than Cotto, Hatton and Clottey.
I guess it's pointless speculation. P4P is a fantasy title after all. I just hope Martinez get the recognition among casualfans that i think he deserves.

As per your ranking. I don't even consider Mayweather an active fighter anymore. He shouldn't even be ranked.
Donaire is awesome.
lol Canadian bias ldo

I don't think that string of Martinez wins would be "way more awesome" though, tbh. Definitely impressive but not considerably more so than Pac's run. Pavlik knocked Martinez down early iirc and the cuts over Pavlik's eyes severely affected the outcome of that fight - in b4 "who gave him those cuts?" I just think it was closer than one might assume. The Williams one punch KO was sick, no disagreement there, but I really thought that fight would play out more like the first one. Fights like that are so hard to classify; lucky shot? Too much power? I wasn't really sure what to think of it other than OMG what a shot. Although I think it's fair to say it wasn't like the Pacquiao KO of Hatton though, which was also a one shot bomb but was already the 3rd knockdown in the first 2 rounds, that was just domination.

As far as Pacman's run is concerned, I think you've gotta include the DLH and Margarito fights now as bookends, can't ignore them. And he's literally destroyed everyone. The Cotto fight was top class through the first 4 rounds until Pac proved to be too much going forward. Hatton and Clottey both looked terrible, I'll fully admit that, but Margarito wasn't as much of a pushover as most of us thought he'd be and Pac still killed him. I mean, put it this way; I haven't walked away from a Pacquiao fight in the last 3 years and thought to myself "that wasn't all that impressive." Every single fight is a dominant performance, an absolute clinic. He's just in a class all by himself.

Ward and Kessler are the only two of the Super Six that really impress me (I'm not gonna count Johnson, he's kinda like an anomaly in this whole thing). Froch is game to fight anyone, as we've already established itt, but imo he's clearly a step behind the top end. Looked awful against Dirrell, Kessler dominated him...really, him and Abraham were perfect for each other. Ward should have no problem beating Froch if that's the final we get.

I know Bute's resume isn't overwhelming but damn, he's looked good doing it. Smooth, disciplined, powerful, he really looks like the real deal. I can't wait for him to get a bigger name and I don't think he'll disappoint.

Ward, Bute, Kessler and Martinez would make a pretty cool 4-man battle royale, come to think of it. When I said Bute was #1, perhaps what I should've said is that whoever wins the Super Six shouldn't really claim best in the world status until they fight Bute, who was and is better than half of the original field imo.

I thought Froch-Kessler was a close fight actually, I know most people fought Kessler won but dominated is too strong a word imo. Ward didn't look too comfortable against Sakio Bika, unless you're going by the lol bad scorecards, so who knows. I don't think there's much between the top few super-middles but I guess you would have to say Bute and Ward are leading the way.

For all the Super Six's troubles, I think it has definitely been good for the division.

Apart from the last round against Andrade in the first bout, he certainly looked impressive in the rematch though.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I'm hoping Martinez drops back down to 147. I don't know if he can get down to that weight anymore but he fought much of his career at that weight I believe. If we can't have Mayweather/Pac I want to see Martinez/Pac at 147. Martinez would certainly make way more money fighting Manny than he could going up against anyone else not named Mayweather. If Mayweather doesn't have the balls to fight a great small fighter like Manny there's no way he'll sign to fight a great bigger man like Martinez.

The Klitschko's are PURE GARBAGE. If they fought in the 1970s, they would only be Ken Norton's sparring partners.

I've no idea why anyone would be daft enough to think that. Being dull and largely in dull fights, and having little competition, doesn't make you easy to beat.

Glad to see Rigondeaux get a dominant win over Casey. His fight on the Pac/Margarito card started well, then sucked when he got on his bicycle.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I really hope Bute-Kessler happens, two high skilled guys who like to mix it up. Should be a close fight too. I don't think I want to hear Kessler commentating again though.

Shame about the Klit fight. Solis was doing quite well and was about to win the round before his legs turned to jelly.

If Bute gets Kessler and beats him, and Ward takes care of his business in the Super Six...oh my. Bute-Ward will be epic.

I thought that as well, but the one that was ruled a low blow made up for it. Semantics though, lol.

Aside: In the Cotto fight replay, MGM arena had a different look to it than when HBO does the PPV. It just seemed different, thats all.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Haha, bute made it so none of that mattered in the end. If ward and bute fight, I'm pretty sure ward will be using his head effectively. The billy goat style may give bute major problems. Otherwise, it seems like a close fight on paper. I believe bute would be the fav vs kessler. Bute's got the headmovement and speed to throw kessler off.

OT: anyone catch the ufc main event sat? That was an entertaining one sided beatdown.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I see Kelly Pavlik vs Bute is being talked about. It sounds like a bit of a mismatch but people have probably forgotten that Pavlik was actually beating Martinez before the big cut opened. Even so, I would much rather see Bute-Kessler.
