Great fight. JMM is a beast.

I'd rather see Pac-JMM III than Pac and 40 year old Mosley.

I was thinking about that. Katsidis was about to break down, poor guy. What a heart he has to fight that well after such a tragedy.

If nothing else, that question gave him one last time to shout out to his brother. It was a touching moment.

The stream I have is showing the fight again. Awesome.

I actually think that gladiator outfit is pretty cool and unique. Plays to his Greek origins. I may just be a little sappy tho.

On a side note, I really hope Glen Johnson cleans up in the Super 6. AA is overrated. I hate Froch and I want to see Ward tested. I'd be fine with Johnson or Ward winning.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Maarquez' chance of beating Pac has passed. A fight at 140 or some catchweight would make JMM look ridiculous. He should be content with cleaning up what is left of 135 for the next couple of years before calling it quits. Lol at a Morales fight.

Well here's the thing; I think it's pretty obvious at this point that Pacquiao's next fight won't be Floyd. Too many legal issues to sort out and that doesn't happen overnight. So clearly, there'll have to be one fight in the interval.

So what's the better option? Fighting Mosley allows Pac to stay at natural welterweight...but that should be a very predictable fight. The highest possible weight for a Pac-JMM fight has to be 140. Anything higher - as evidenced by the Mayweather farce - is a laugher at this point.

Pac-JMM @ 140 will probably do better PPV numbers and it'll probably be the better fight. As long as Pacquiao's camp doesn't feel dropping that weight will have too much of an adverse effect on him going forward pre-Mayweather (it really shouldn't), that's the better option. So yea, I'd rather see Pac-JMM III @ 140 than Pac-Mosley @ 147.

Let's just think about this for a second though, and I'm not sure if this is a testament to the brilliance of Pacquiao or a sad sign of the times...but Pacquiao's non-Mayweather options:

- Juan Manuel Marquez at 140 lbs.
- Shane Mosley at 147 lbs.
- Sergio Martinez at 156 lbs. catchweight

That's just incredible and lol at the same time.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I don't think Pac will go down to 140 for JMM. Roach has said that they would fight @ 147, which is why I don't think JMM has much of a chance at winning. If this fight gets made, I'm pretty sure Golden boy won't force some drug test crap. JMM will want the pay day too much.

The sadist in me really wants to see Pacquiao-Martinez. That'd be so awesome. It's like an addiction to crack at this point...how far can Pac go before he OD's on size?

I also think Pac gets killed if he fights Martinez at 156. Would be a very, very bad idea imo (and would therefore never happen).

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I thought both stoppages were completely correct.

Hernandez got up but was very wobbly and clearly was in no condition to defend himself or fight. If you are doing the chicken dance you should not be allowed to continue.

Katsidis was given plenty of time to show a willingness to fight but he maybe threw one punch in the last 45 seconds to a minute of the fight. Given that these guys were throwing 80-119 punches per round suddenly going to zero output is a telling sign. His legs were rubbery and he was just trying to survive the round by staying away since he couldn't defend himself anymore. His defense was blocking punches with his face and once he could no longer stand in and take it the time to stop the fight had arrived.

If either fight continues the losers get KTFO'd 100% of the time in brutal fashion.

lol @ Manny making 156. Not enough rice in the world to get him there. He couldn't get to 150, plus he was a tick slower for the Margo fight.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

The Katsidis stoppage still bothers me, but I'm not being irrational or delusional about it. JMM was definitely winning and that was probably a 10-8 round, which would've put the fight out of reach for Katsidis heading to the 10th.

Still, unified title on the line, one or two point difference at most imo (debatable)...jeez. Glad I'm not the ref there.

Obviously I don't think it happens but what fights are left? Please not Mosley, that should suck. And quite frankly, I don't really want to see Marquez again, 135 is probably his absolute max.

If Pac-Martinez guaranteed the best PPV numbers and best up front cash, and if it became even more unlikely that Mayweather sorts out his legal issues - let alone stays out of jail altogether - then I think Pacquiao's camp would take a serious look at that fight, or at least kick some tires with intent.

Outside of Mayweather, Pacquiao-Martinez at 156 (hypothetically) is the only potential Pacquiao fight that would provide an uncertain conclusion.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

JMM weighed in at 145 tonight. Pac is only going to weigh in at 148 on fight night, max. Floyd Mayweather had a lot too do with JMM looking so bad in his welterweight debut.

Still, Pac knocks out JMM at 140 or 147. But it should be entertaining while it lasts.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

The strength of Katsidis definitely gave Marquez problems tonight, and that was with Katsidis at a pound under JMM. Pacquiao is the strongest fighter I have ever seen, p4p ldo, and like you said, he'll come in 3-5 lbs. heavier than JMM. At this point in their careers, it will be one-sided destruction. I don't know if I want to see that.

I feel like I've flip flopped a bit over the last 45 minutes. Pac-JMM @ 140 might be interesting for a while. Pac-JMM @ 147, dear Lord. Don't even want to think about that.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Manny only has to cut a couple pounds to make 140 and maybe just has to skip breakfast and lunch before the weigh in to make it. I don't see any difference with Manny at 140 or 147. It's a massacre either way because Manny is obviously not bothered by Marquez's punches and will hammer the hell out of him in return scoring multiple knock downs through the fight. It's just hard to imagine Marquez going the distance with the current version of Pacquaio.

I'd love it if Manny dropped down to 135 to pick up the lineal title there but apparently he really doesn't want to cut weight that might be hard to get back for the next time he wants to fight at 147 or 150 where the real money is.

I just watched the 9th again. It was a reasonable stoppage. After the initial left uppercut that pushed Katsidis into retreat mode, he took a lot of uppercuts to the head. He looked really shaky on his feet. I think Bayless would have reassessed had Katsidis taken a knee. Maybe that's what he should have done to prolong the fight, but he's too much of a damn warrior that he goes out on his shield.

Did they say what Katsidis' fight night weight was?

So they both rehydrated to similar weights. If there's no Mayweather fight next, I wouldn't mind seeing JMM vs Pac 3. JMM does deserve a nice payday, as he is totally underappreciated.

Mosley has no chance, waste of time.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

A couple of heavyweight warriors fought for the lightweight crown last night. I was a little suprised by the stoppage, partly because of how quickly Katsidis lost his way and partly because the action was still in the middle of the ring. If Katsidis had been on the ropes I don't think anyone would have been suprised. But Katsidis was so stubborn he continued to hold his ground even when he had no defense left but a blown out chin and a body that refused to go down.

Pacquiao holds the keys to the PPV kingdom right now. So anyone who wants a piece of a Pacquiao purse will have to come to him. I'm guessing Marquez at 144 or Martinez at 152-153. Martinez should be forced to cut till it hurts to get on a Pac-PPV. As the lineal middleweight champion the biggest draw he could muster was against Williams - free on HBO.

Berto should take a fight as soon as possible against Mosley or Margarito or Coto. If he can dominate impressively against one of those a Pacquiao-Berto fight could generate some interest.

Good point about Berto. It's time for him to step up. He'll need a super impressive performance against a reasonably big name to even justify a fight against Pacquiao.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Just got home from training camp and got to watch JMM vs Katsidis. Meh, what a fight. Two total warriors.

Agree that JMM and Pac 3 should happen. Juan deserves the pay day, for both his performance tonight, and the history of those two and the legend that he is. But we all know that is only if a certain someone else doesn't soon/or never steps up to the plate for the fight that really needs to happen.

Much respect to both Kats and JMM. Great performances. Bayless made a tough call, but a good call.

and Larry Merchant is a tool.
