Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I am starting to think that Manny would be the favorite against Floyd. Originally, I thought Floyd would the favorite, but I just think Pac's offense will overwhelm him. Floyd's 1 punch and run style just isn't going to work. While he's throwing 1 punch, Manny will be throwing a 4-6 punch combination. Even if he misses on a majority of them, he'll get the decision by simply being much more aggressive. Manny is just as fast and is a more powerful puncher than Floyd, imo.

Very much this.

The fight was a lot closer than the score card indicates. Pac clearly pulled away after the midway point, very similar to the Cotto fight, but Margarito's pop certainly kept this fight interesting.

Took me a bit to find a clip.

It's a bit cheesy and there were more damaging sequences, but right before this to this was my favorite part of the fight:

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Hell, I'm starting to seriously think Pacquiao would have a chance to knock Floyd the **** out.

Pacquiao was this close to knocking out a dude with an iron chin who was 17 pounds heavier than him tonight. If he's able to tag Mayweather with some of the shots he hit Margarito with tonight, Mayweather will get knocked down at least once. I'm really starting to believe that.

Pacquiao's strength is just...it's almost not human.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

Margarito was so much bigger. It almost looked a bit ridiculous, and that's the only thing that made the fight a teeny bit competitive. If not for the 15 pound advantage, this fight is a huge laugher.

Fun side bet, how quickly do I die if I piss Manny off in a bar. I'm 6'3" 175 lbs with a 75" reach and no boxing training.

I look just like Jesus too. And yeah, I'm hoping Manny takes a dive.

Pac's hand speed is just so insane. He would **** his hands to throw a punch and then his fist would be through Margo's guard before you could see what happened. Poor guy never stood a chance.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

I understand the hype for PBF PacMan bout but to me it's not something I'm dying to see. I'm equally satisfied if PacMan were to fight a ?? cardboard box, garbage can, a broomstick the point is the man is so entertaining he'd put on an exhibition vs anybody and what's so enthralling about him is his style and ability to dictate the tempo of a fight; whereby being the aggressor is normally the case. I get the impression he feels ashamed if at anytime he senses the fight is being stale regardless if he's ahead on the scorecard. Although tonight he showed signs of letting up in the latter rounds I attribute it to his belief that Antonio was injured as evidenced by his post fight comments.

It's the only megafight out there that has the potential to revive the sport. I'm not trying to be a douche but if you don't salivate at the prospect of that fight, you might not have a pulse.

They're the two best fighters in the world today, without question. There hasn't been a consensus P4P #1 vs. #2 in over 15 years - you'd probably have to go back to even before De La Hoya-Trinidad in '99, probably more like Chavez-Whitaker in '93.

This fight needs to happen.

Still a great freaking time. Partied with the Pinoys and Latinos on the concourse during non tv undercard. Pics later, going to bed

@glee

I'm not disagreeing with the potential spectacle these two squaring off would create. My dejection stems from the general stigma boxing as a sport lingers to in terms of insistingly seeking that number one fight, that fight that will revive the sport; you said it yourself. As history shows us these fights are few and far removed and almost never live up to the media hoopla that we're all dragged through.

My ideal scenerio...

Pretty Boy fights PacMan and PacMan wins via KO. PB is humbled and stops acting like a complete assclown and defeats PacMan in a rematch.

Obviously they would need to fight a 3rd time, and whoever wins that would go down as the GOAT.

That's exactly it tho. How fulfilled would you be with just one fight? I mean I wanna see these guys go at it 2,3 times minimum. Seeing that they can't manage to organize 1 my attitude towards boxing is and has been fk it.

Pac landed 51 punches in the 11th. Marg threw 18. I know nothing about boxing but LOL.

That's a terrible reason for suggesting prizefighting should become less fixated with making prime time matchups. A lot of the Super Bowls suck, but that doesn't mean it should be abandoned.

People want to see the best fight the best. People want to watch fights where the outcome isn't implicitly obvious before the bell even sounds. Some fights will deliver, others won't, but that's not the point. Watching great fighters consistently clown inferior opposition isn't worth $60 per PPV and a lack of big fights is killing boxing.

Re: SE Boxing Thread (still waiting for PBF v. Pac)

i have to say that was the best performance that i can remember seeing in the boxing ring. Pac just messed with him all fight, letting Marg trap him on the ropes only to dance around him unloading 4/5/6 shots at a time, absolutely brilliant.

after i seen the size difference i never thought that Pac could hurt Margarito (i thought maybe Pac gonna get KO'ed), well i was wrong

until PBF proves differently it will be Pacman>>>>>>>PBF.

are there any other boxers similar in size too Pac that would be able to beat a Margarito style/size fighter? (doubt PBF puts a beating on Margarito that would come close too last night)

cheating bastard that he is, Margarito deserves some credit for taking that beating for 12 rounds (maybe he thought this was some kind of penance) when he could have just quit after 6/7/8 rounds and nobody could have complained.
