he pretty much said in post fight interview he didn't care about the result and got paid so his family is now taken care of
i think if we started this over again but askren only got paid for a win we'd have a different result
Terrible take which it seems like you are making because you made an absolutely terrible bet. I viewed this as one of the most lopsidedly wrong lines I've ever seen.
I haven't heard that Askren didn't train for this and I'm highly skeptical that he didn't train for this. At the end of the day Ben Askren is a high level competitor and he probably worked his ass off for this. The result we saw is exactly what everyone should have expected from a Ben Askren that worked his ass off though.
Ben Askren has probably the worst striking in UFC history. I'm not talking about worst among top fighters, or worst among known fighters. I'm talking about worst among all fighters. This is why he was handpicked for this fight. His striking is worse than Royce Gracie's, worse than Ronda Rousey's. Hell from a technical standpoint it's probably worse than CM Punk's, who I consider the worst UFC fighter of all time, and who btw was a teammate of Askren's which just shows that fight camp isn't afraid to take these freakshow ass-whoopings.
BTW, you could have just paid attention to my posts which said he was doing this for his family:

Of course Paul's boxing isn't comparable to Burroughs wrestling but neither is Askren's boxing comparable to Askren's wrestling. I fully expect to see a wide discrepancy in skill between Paul and Askren. Askren will have to make it a very ugly match to be competitive and I'm very skeptical he can do that.
