Agreed 100%. Why I think boxing might be he one exception to the general rule that top of current generation would beat previous ones. Not necessarily convinced that is for sure true given diet and fitness gains (heavyweights much bigger now obv so hard to compare)but the cross era comparisons make for more interesting comparisons than other sports

In other news ESPN and TR just scrapped their deal and made it a 7 year deal with 54 cards a year. Pretty crazy but I like it. Gonna inevitably be a lot of garbage fights but I really don’t mind i watch boxing on tv anytime it’s on pretty much.

It was only a year ago that Johnson KO'd Tyson Fury's next opponent Pianeta.

Speaking of Fury

http://www.espn.co.uk/boxing/story/_...ilder-december

He might have shined a little light on Wilder/AJ negotiations

Quote:
"It's been very, very easy [to make the fight]. We basically did this deal in two days, it's been the most straightforward, not complicated, deal that I have ever done. I've found his full team and him gentlemen to deal with, straightforward and very, very easy.

"The Americans at the moment are laughing at the British heavyweights because you've got Deontay wanting to fight anybody all the time, saying he wants to be the best -- and he does. He really wanted to fight Joshua.

"That offer was really there, the $80m for two fights. Someone very close to me saw proof of funds. The funds were definitely there ready to take. They didn't take it because they wanted to fight an easier fight in Alexander Povetkin."
Massive respect for Wilder for taking this fight. He didn't have to take on Luis Ortiz but he did. He doesn't have to take on Fury and he's risking an incredible amount of money to do it but he is.

Fury v Wilder looks close to done. Think a lot of people thought it was smoke at first but nothing to suggest that now.
Pretty sick fight to end the year with and the biggest heavyweight fight of the year by a mile even considering AJ's two bouts.

Fury is slight bookies fav but betting line is close, who would you fancy if it happens this year?

Honestly, I can't believe this is close with the betting. Surely Wilder should be a huge favourite? Not against a prime Fury perhaps, but Fury didn't look too good in his last outing and a few pundits were worried by his footwork. The guy has been an example of how not to live when he's been out.

I'm tempted to shovel onto Wilder here.

(As ever when I comment on Wilder I have to caveat all views as being possibly biased as Wilder has always scared the hell out of me.)

What if Fury went out and deliberately looked like **** to bait someone into fighting him?

We'll see what happens in his next tune-up

3D chess from Fury? He did just goof around to be fair so who knows.

I heard Mike Costello on the BBC, someone who knows his stuff, talking about Fury and how he retreated in a straight line whereas he'd used to dance to either side. That kind of thing sounds like muscle memory stuff, so it made me wonder about Fury being over the hill.

He's such a unique case anything is possible. Maybe he'll make Wilder look ordinary, but I'm still thinking of piling on Wilder with those odds.

I agree with you DTD. These odds look like a massive assumption that Fury will be in shape and committed and I see zero reason to believe that tbh. I favor Wilder for sure just based on Fury being a complete clown I have to see him in shape mentally and physically before I really give him any credence as a serious world class champion at this point.

Also maybe this is a spicy take but the more I think about it I honestly believe when Usyk moves up he has an incredibly great chance of beating both wilder and Aj I just am coming around to the idea that they would blow their load and he would simply outbox them. I think they both would tire in the middle or the fignt and Usyk would have little problem beating them on points . Could very well be wrong but I am quite interested how he looks v Bellew. Weird division right now it’s definitelt more interesting if we have a legitimate Fury in the mix. Not that long ago I thought Aj should be a solid like 3-1 favorite over Wilder but now I’m not that convinced he is a clear step up over the rest of the division. His last two fignts he really lost some luster in my eyes whether fair or not . I hope I’m wrong because I really like AJ and Wilder is such an unskilled clown but I just think these heavyweights are not anything special

Also I’m not at all convinced this Fury wilder fignt actually happens it doesn’t make much sense to me unless Fury is just looking to cash out in which case I think he will look like ****. I don’t understand going from figntijg a complete bum to fighting wilder it’s like Fury doesn’t want to go through the proper comeback steps and I don’t think it is a good sign for where he is at physically and mentally personally. I’m shocked people really think Fury is gonna show up this soon and be 100%. Quite frankly the very best version of Fury we ever saw should barely be favored over Wilder IMO he was hardly some dominant champion. So I def don’t understand the odds I would pile on Wilder. In the land of the blind...we are talking about a guy who got knocked down by Steve Cunningham. Wilder has close to a 50/50 shot v absolute prime Fury for me. And I really am not a big Wilder guy

I genuinely have no idea how good either (Fury or Wilder) are, having seen a decent amount of both of them.

What Wilder did show in his last fight was a chin and a lot of guts. I don't know if "peak" Fury beats Wilder.

If I had to bet on it I wouldn't look past Wilder KO or Fury on points, with a preference for Wilder KO.

If you're not doing anything atm:

Quillin vs. J'Leon Love coming up, followed by Berto vs. Devon Alexander on Fox. Lipinets vs Bone currently on.

Fourth. I’m not really paying that much attention tbh to have a judgment.

Bivol putting on a clinic. I missed a few rounds in the middle but everything I've seen is all Bivol

Chilemba always seems to give opponents a hard time even though he never appears to have a chance at winning.

HBO have Bivol winning every round, unless we're watching different HBOs?

Bivol could have him out by now, he's extremely cautious for a man of such ability.

In Chile I get the fights in basic cable. There is an Argentinian channel that shows lots of the HBO cards. The very big international fights are usually broadcasted in public television.
