Honestly, Hurd is not a good fighter. He has horrible footwork and no defense. He has solid power but it isn't enough to overcome his technical flaws at the top level. Guys like Charlo and Lara will destroy him. Hell, Lubin would beat him too.
Trout is a talented boxer who could never get over the hump and into the list of A-level fighters. Sure, he beat Cotto. But he lost to Canelo, Lara, Jermall Charlo and now Hurd. He doesn't have the power to pull off an upset against any of those guys and he's now past his prime. He'll be at best a B-side on main cards until he decides to hang it up.
I agree with most of this, but still think after the second round it was a slow beating of Trout. Everyone gave the fourth and fifth to Trout because he looked better, but he got hit a few times and took damage, whereas all that he gave didn't do much. Agreed, Lara or Charlo are better boxers than Hurd.
