When he had zero shot to win on one judge's scorecard it's pretty rigged.

What was your score bty?

Like if it was 115-113, 114-114, 113-115, sure.

but 118-110 is just lol

please don't quote him. Quite sure >50% of this thread has him on ignore for a reason.

If Don trella gave either of the 10th or 11th to Golovkin (or the 7th, 1 of the 2 pity rounds Byrd found for GGG) it would have been a win for him. Bonkers.

Why would someone rig it at 118-110 though? The last three rounds were all close enough that she could have given them to GGG and produced and given Canelo a win with a less eyebrow raising scorecard.

She is probably very bad at scoring or at fixing fights. I'm strongly leaning towards incompetence or emotional involvement like when she gave Hopkins the fight vs Calzaghe.

This isn't specifically in regard to this fight, just in general thoughts\queries...

I presume one of the hallmarks of good judging is impartiality - general impartiality and also from round to round. i.e. not be giving "even up" rounds or "this has been his best round so I'll give it to him" or "I gave the last six to boxer A, so I'll give this one to boxer B", etc.

I believe that would be extremely hard to do in practice, but let's say you could do that perfectly, I wonder how often it would happen that you look down at the scorecard at the end of the fight, add up the numbers and think "oh, f*ck, it's 118-110... that wasn't a 118-110 fight".

Hahah. Just watching some of the press conference...

Oscar gets up like "Attendance was 22,000, blah blah. It was a great fight! Reminds me of some of my fights back in the day!". Literally couldn't go 30 seconds without tooting his own horn.

The only score that matters is the judges anyway. Any fight with those level of guys is going to be controversial because in 50/50 fight if the guy the internet is in love doesn't win it is always a robbery and boxing is dead. I have no idea what the score should be in that fight, same with Hagler vs Leonard or Ward vs Kovalev 1.

IMO Canelo would have won the fight if he had not needed this confidence with bulking up. The only reason for the controversy is Canelo's gas tank.

Actually, the amusing thing is that a draw is almost certainly the most accurate outcome but it just brings out all the ***** drama queens who don't understand the sport and get a nice platform to express their natural ***** boyness.

That is why I think boxing popularity will be capped here because it usually doesn't lend itself to being a twitter *****.

A rematch I think is going to be super tough to make because this is a moral victory for Canelo. I don't see how GGG can come to terms with the hardball negotiation for a rematch golden boy is going to play because they absolutely do not need him.

Who does Canelo fight at 160 if not GGG?

I just want to point out that everybody in the world thought Nam Phan won that fight, except the two judges sitting next to Byrd.

I didn't bet this fight but man - this is pretty ****ing damning. That is a huge line shift in 48 hours for a combat sport unless injury news or sthing leaks.

I didn't even watch this fight last night and I'm still upset lol at this sport. This is what happens when you don't knock out this guy

I had it 8-4 GGG but I think a draw isn't outrageous. 118-110 is just far beyond the realms of possibility and whoever came up with that card should never judge again.

Lmao this is an excellent post.

If anyone can find a clip or gif of the haymaker GGG took in the 9th or 10th (might even been 11th don't remember) and didn't even flinch or move please direct me to it. You definitely know which one I'm talking about if you watched the fight.

I've been trying to explain to my friends that didn't watch how it was so incredible that it didn't even look real in a way but it's really hard to put into words.
