I’ve been unwavering in my Teo Lopez support but this Japanese dude came to fight tonight and no pushover at least in round one. Might be a good test

Teo is going to get a good fight next. Someone like Commey/Pedraza probably unless Davis gets frisky. Loma is going to sit him whenever he gets around to it.

the commey fight is next for sure. i do like that fight a lot, commey is very good himself. i think i still favor teo but he will have to fight better than he did tonight. personally i think commey would have a punchers chance v loma too (not a good one, but i could see the upset something like 20% of the time). odds for lopez-commey will be pretty interesting. lopez being so young makes me think he has a next gear but who knows. i don't like ****ting on young fighters who all of a sudden don't look like world beaters but at the same time i have always overrated knockout artists as prospects so i am pulling back on the hype some lol. i was really hoping lopez would just run through commey and make the loma fight huge and he still could. i def was expecting him to just knock this japanese guy out i had never heard of him
forgot about pedraza. he would give the version of teo that showed up tonight fits for sure. teo basically admitted post fight how shook he is of tall fighters...don't think that was wise. def another good fight.
credit to the japanese guy he came to fight and maybe hes much better than we knew but i thought he was pretty basic and just not an impressive performance from lopez

My gut says the odds on Thurman is ridiculous, but i can't quantify it in a better way than: "Pac is old as hell".

Whyte came in really heavy, looks like he's been slacking. Odd considering Rivas is no joke.
Great exchange there.

Whyte really outboxing Rivas halfway through. Rivas looks confused, he's terribly inaccurate and just throwing up power shots that aren't coming particularly close. Nobody's ever accused Whyte of being tough to hit either, I mean Chisora was landing against him.

We'll see if Rivas has anything left in the tank. Whyte never looked great after that KD but Rivas just had a lot of trouble landing followups.

Nice performance from Whyte. He looked as fresh and sharp as ever despite that added weight. Rivas was exposed tonight, he didn't seem to have a good plan.

Pacquiao/Thurman is a tough fight to pick. Initial instinct/gut feeling was to go with Thurman despite the lackluster performance vs. Josesito Lopez. Thurman after all is still undefeated, in his prime, and - while clearly not as battle- tested as Manny - is more battle-tested than many think, most notably having won competitive but clear decisions vs. top welterweights Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia, who probably both ranked in the top 15-20 pound-for-pound at the time he fought them. If Thurman fights like he fought in the first 5 or 6 rounds vs. Josesito, I'd have to give him the edge vs. a 40-year old, past prime Pacquiao.
But despite Pacquiao being 40 and past prime, I don't think he's fallen off (nearly) as much as people think - I actually have yet to see a *single* fight in Pacquiao's past prime career providing clear evidence that he's washed... he's still legitimately one of the best welterweights in the world. IMO Pacquiao was robbed in his 1st fight vs. Bradley, robbed in the fight vs. Horn, and was clearly beating Marquez until he got careless going for the KO and got KO'd himself. So Pacquiao is still a top WW who I think competes with anyone in the division with the exception of Spence (younger, bigger, stronger, more athletic at this point in Pac's career) and maybe Crawford.
I question Thurman's heart/desire given the amount of time he's spent away from boxing in recent year (though I understand much of that was due to injury), his tendency to step off the gas late in fights, and recent comments he's made saying that the Pacquiao fight would probably be his last fight in 2019 LOL. I also can't get past the fact that vs. a prime Pac, this fight would've been a clear mismatch. Again, I don't think Manny has fallen off from his prime as much as people think so some elements of a mismatch are still there - especially with regards to Pacquiao's speed and stamina. Thurman's attack is often predictable and is something I think Pacquiao will be able to effectively counter. I also think Manny will have success with his lead left hand, which is something even a slower, less skilled Luis Collazo had some success with in his fight with Thurman. At the end of the day, Thurman doesn't have the size, physicality, or volume that some of the previous underdogs who "beat" Pacquiao did (some via very controversial decision) so I'm gong to edge Pacquiao in this fight. So basically, my gut/first instinct is with Thurman but in thinking it through my head is telling me Pacquiao so that's where I've put my $$$ LOL. With all this said I bet this fight very early when Pacquiao was the underdog - with the way the odds have shifted at this point it's maybe either a no bet or perhaps the slightly better value is on Thurman to win (in particular to win by decision).

I'm with you on most all of that. Manny is still an incredibly gifted boxer that presents all sorts of trouble with angles. I don't think Thurman will be aggressive enough to bother him and I think Manny still has the edge in boxing if it doesn't get rough. A 40 year old can get old overnight, but if in shape Manny shows up I expect him to likely be winning a majority of rounds (he wasn't in good shape vs Horn but still clearly won imo). He doesn't take needless risks anymore, so it could be a poor man's Thurman Garcia as far as action goes too (read: boring for most), really depends if Thurman is aggressive.

Figuroa has been pretty ineffective so far.
They just said Figuroa trained himself for this fight, kinda looks that way, he's just like flopping onto Ugas over and over, ref being a little hard on Ugas.

Manny is laying the leather but Keith has got a few in as well, especially in the 4th. Manny is moving really well but I dont love how low his hands are as he pivots out
