Did Fury even get punched? What was the point of this fight?

Good performance but Schwarz is a bum and I found the ESPN broadcast unbelievably nauseating I hope wilder sleeps him in the rematch (assuming wilder beats Ortiz which I still don’t think is a sure thing)

Tessitore absolutely slobbering all over whoever the top rank A side is every broadcast is one of the worst parts of watching boxing but he knows what he’s there for I’ll give him that

missed the DAZN fights last night but i guess Cancio beat up on Machado again and had a KO3 body shot...good for him what a great story with him still working full time on railroads or whatever it is i hope he gets a good payday for his next fight...tevin farmer maybe? i would watch that

with no actual boxing on all day for the first time in months i am kind of looking forward to the paulie malinaggi lobov bare knuckle freak show tonight if i can find a stream...randall bailey on the undercard too he might kill someone with no gloves even at his age

This bare knuckle event is fun. Feels like a mix between early UFC and subpar boxing.

Thurman looked very mediocre v josesito honestly thought he was a second or two from being stopped

I think it will be pretty competitive I am having a pretty hard time seeing Thurman dominate pacquiao he’s too inactive IMO...

I'm going heavy on Manny in this one.

He fights smarter than he did in his prime, and while he's older now, the primary weakness he has today is that he's open to physical bull rushing fighters. Thurman is not that fighter, he hasn't walked anyone down since he was fighting C-level fighters.

Thurman is slick and boxes well, but Manny boxes better and I think old man Manny is likely to beat any Thurman we've ever seen fight. If Porter were in against Manny I'd be more likely to favor Porter. Thurman just doesn't fight that way.

It looks like Manny has been training hard for this one too, unlike the Horn fight (where he clearly won by all observer accounts, outlanding Horn 2-1), and otherwise he's basically outboxed everyone in a fairly low risk way since he lost to Floyd.

Do you guys just feel Thurman can outbox him?

I think Canelo fights GGG next. By most accounts, DAZN basically controls the shots here. They're paying Canelo and GGG huge sums and it seems like they want them to fight each other and will accept little else. I think Canelo's camp has been throwing up smokescreens hoping that GGG will relent and fight in Vegas again.

i guess brant got smashed by murata in japan yesterday morning in 2 rounds i wish i would have known that fight was on at 6 am as i was up all night working on something and could have watched. i never really rated brant much but he indisputably beat murata first time around. murata redeeming himself seems like a big time win for GGG since he can go over there and make a lot of money like the initial plan was until murata lost (not sure if any promotional problems now but w/e)...that would be a fun fight even if it seems kind of obvious GGG would smash him eventually who knows at his age... murata was a rock em sock em guy who will come forward and take 2 to land 1 i would be entertained

lots of boxing today but its all mediocre. i guess the best fight is the du bois gorman showdown of undefeated british heavyweight prospects for the british title. think some people like du bois as a potential world level guy but i don't think i have watched either fight but i'll catch this. espn+ around 3 or 4 for the main

edit- forgot bryant jennings joe joyce is the co feature too that is semi intriguing as jennings is a real test for anyone who wants to get into the top 10 hw conversation like joyce. think joyce is -500 or something. too wide for me, this is one of those classic fights where i think the brits have bet their boy way too high in a fight that shouldn't be more than -200 IMHO. then again jennings just got knocked out by oscar rivas and isn't young so maybe he will be washed but he looked competitive, solid, and unspectacular as usual until the very late knockout

rei vargas v komeda super bantamweight world title fight too. don't think ive actually seen either which isn't uncommon for me and the lower weights but i should probably add that since it is actually the most relevant fight today- dazn from california

joyce jennings playing about exactly as most would expect

joyce much higher workrate but a lot of his shots are into jennings gloves or pitter patter punches, jennings landing cleaner and harder shots but i don't think throwing enough to win

announcers seem to think joyce has it in the bag but i see some very close scores on twitter going into teh final round. i wouldn't be surprised with some wide decisions for joyce. i'm just not impressed with joyce other than his great workrate i don't see a whole lot there for getting into top 5 in the division. i think him v whyte would be a fun fight tho

edit- joyce with 2 v wide scorecards and a 115-112. predictable. good win on paper but not really a great performance imo

anyway on to the main. don't think iv seen either guy actually fight before, i might have saw one round of du bois beating a no hoper. i'm hoping he impresses here we need some new blood and i know some are high on him

Yeah - agree with the proposal to change thread title in his honor. "Sweet Pea" was prime Floyd Mayweather before prime Floyd Mayweather - arguably even a bit better. Because he had that "boring" Mayweather style, he's somewhat overlooked by some when talking about the all-time greats but people forget this was a guy who was ranked pound-for-pound #1 for like half a decade before the emergence of Oscar De La Hoya and Roy Jones Jr. Arguably should've been named Fighter of the Decade in the 90's over Roy Jones. If there had been better judging he should've had a perfect undefeated record going into his fight with Felix Trinidad (when he was 34 years old). RIP...

Would fully support a title change in memory of Sweet Pea, he and RJJ were the reason I got into boxing initially.
