I know it's 100% human nature and there really isn't anything else for him to say in this spot, but I found his answer to Max after Ward/Kov I (concerning his reaction to the decision) to be super rustling.

Dude knew he probably lost, especially with the KD, and was just sort of milling around when they read his name and he sprang to life. It seemed obvious he thought he'd lost and was surprised to hear he won. All good, it was a close fight and you got the nod. But then Max asks him about it and good guy Andre Ward goes into a sort of weak heel character "Yeah, I knew the whole time, where are you getting surprise from? Of course I won" kind of thing.

Guy was an elite talent and by all accounts a good human being, I just always found him to be a smug douche.

Re the decision against Kovalev I didn't see it like that at all.
He was obviously apreehensive because he knew it was a close fight that could have gone either way. And I think thats what he said afterwards, that he thought he won a close fight.

I think Ward comes back a few years from now. Between the legal disputes and no real $ fights on the horizon he probably just wants to take a break.

Who knows what is out there in 2 years, GGG could move up, maybe Kovalev 3.

British boxing hype machine is always the same. Fighter meet and get into a fight. What else is new?

Why can't they play Rock-em Sock-em Robots instead? Mix things up a bit.

I'm 99% sure he said that hebhad no doubt and he didn't know where Max was getting "surprise" from afterwards.

Whatever, dudes retired now. Hope he lands a cool announcing gig that pays well so he never fights again.

Finally that dolt Atlas put GGG in his top 10 p4p.

http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/i...tires-new-no-1

Lot of people there putting the Thai guy in their top 10. Figured that would happen and I thought it should be that way but a good lot of you made some good points against that.

FNF looks good on ESPN. Got Oscar Valdez defending his title and Gilberto Ramirez defending his.

I look forward to seeing Ramirez. He's unbeaten and has been extremely impressive in all of his fights. He's swept three of his last 4 fights on the cards and on that one fight he didn't, he swept the fight on two of the three judges' scorecards (Ironically it was Byrd who scored the fight 99-91).

Unfortunately he's fighting in a super-weak division. IMO he got screwed out of the SMW tournament. I think he could give any of those guys a run for their money.

Apparently, I missed the first fight of the SMW Super Series which pitted Callum Smith vs some Swedish dude I never heard of.

Swede was game and did quite well in the middle rounds but didn't land enough power punches to assert himself. He did appear to break Smith's nose in the fourth though.

Figured the scorecards would be lolbad but they were pretty sensible given that Smith was the hometown fighter.

I guess I am the minority but I loved watching Andre Ward fight. He took on all comers and was a true student of the game. Those guys who fought last weekend could learn a lot from him. A true great who adapted to his opponents better than anyone out there. He never forgot to body punch either...

Yeah. He has some serious flaws. He takes way too much punishment inside and seems to almost completely disregard his jab. Hart was able to burn him with that uppercut later in the fight. Hart is good but I don't think Ramirez does this well against Callum Smith or Eubank Jr. Still should have been in the SMW Super Series.

He's a tall lefty but doesn't fight that way. Fights more like Jake LaMotta with a granite chin and great power punches.

Personally, I think he won 115-112 against Hart.

Props to Hart for having some serious heart. I was amazed that he got out of the second round. To go the distance after that knockdown and even keep the fight close on the cards was impressive.

I didn't think Valdez would be half was interesting as this fight would be. Now that I saw Ramirez-Hart, Valdez's fight won't be 1/4 as interesting.

Wow, thought Valdez would do easy work of this guy.

There's so much FOTY material this year.

Got Valdez winning every round so far except one even round when Valdez got knocked down but dominated the rest of the round before then.

But Servania is dangerous.

I'll be this fight's Adalaide Byrd. Valdez blew him out. One even round and a 10-8 against Servania.

119-107 Valdez

I'm sure everybody will think I'm nuts.

Valdez is a hell of a crowd-pleaser but is too wild and flawed to beat Santa Cruz, Frampton or Russell Jr.

Servania only had 12 KOs in 29 fights but show some serious power.

I was only semI watching at a bar but fights last night looked great. Today we have the cruiserweight tourney and Linares Campbell could be good. I love watching linares fight butwith his chin and cut problems he is always vulnerable. -500 seems too steep for me

My buddy ran into Mr. Ward tonight at the gas station, which inspired me to rewatch this classic. I mean, really??!!! Truly unreal.
