Eh, he was getting outboxed and just didn't have enough power to hurt him.

He was completely dazed after that first knockdown. You could see it on his face that he'd rather be some place else. I thought the ref was going to stop the fight right then and there.

I mean, if he can convincingly beat Estrada or Inoue then I think I agree with you, but 2 fights (the first one most thought Roman won too) vs a guy who clearly is a few classes above his prime rate, it's not enough to be top 10 p4p in my book.
If he convincingly beats Inoue, he'd be closer to #1 than 10.

Chocolatito's not coming back from that. That fight looked like it was won in the mind before the first round even started

I completely agree. The complaining about the headbutts made it clear that he was more concerned about cuts than hurting his opponent.

He needs to move back down to flyweight. Super flyweight is too big for him. He probably won't because there's more money at super flyweight but he should if he wants to stay viable in the sport.

Agree about him being done after the first KD, he didn't know up from down after that first one.

Also agree he should move down, moving a power punching offensive fighter up in classes over and over is quite a dangerous thing to do. Manny did it, but he also lost a few fights in the process (including the big KO). Manny also had incredible movement, he could avoid bigger engine types like Margarito with his speed and movement and not take the type of punches Roman is taking at these weights vs a bigger power puncher. Otherwise it's guys like RJJ or Floyd that have the most success moving up several weight classes.

But if Roman's heart is still in it, move 1-2 weight classes down, dominate a few easier opponents in the next year then setup a big showdown vs whichever of the top fighters will pay him the best.

What's a bummer for Gonzalez is that below 115 is a bunch of nobodies. There's no competition for him there. At the same time, his experiment at super flyweight has been a failure.

Also, did Gonzalez look a bit fat in there? My friend brought it up and he might have been a bit out of shape.

2nd fight so dominant though.
Agreed. Chocolatito is shot he is done . Old for the division and fighting 2 weight divisions too high. Credit to Thai guy but he needs to beat Estrada before I even consider him considering most thought he didn't win first fight.Really entertaining night of fights tho. I certainly look forward to that fight with Estrada.

What about Khal Yafai vs Sor Runvisai or Inoue?

Yafai undefeated. I haven't seen enough of him or this division to give an opinion

As a big Chocolatito fan I am just devastated.
The idea of Chocolatito being shot just doesn't register when the guy looked straight unbeatable a year and a few months ago.
That is some amazingly bad career management.

They say boxing is a sport where you age overnight.

That might be what happened to Chocolatito during his first fight with Sor Rungvisai.

For me there is no excuse not to have a doubleheader with estrada-SR and inoue cuadras next year. Guaranteed fireworks if HBO is actually committed to showing these guys and the matchups make themselves . Last night was extremely successful card in my eyes they need to build on this. Admittedly they may not see it like this given RG lost

Depends on what the ratings were.

If Inoue could speak English, I think he would become big here. He has the knockout power and fighting style to be consistently entertaining. You could see his occasional cockiness in the ring. He doesn't spread it quite as thick as Lomachenko does, but it's enough to make him appealing.

I expect the ratings weren't great because of college football starting

Yafai is the weakest of the super flyweight champions from what I've heard( this means I have not seen him fight). He has picked some very average fighters for some of his title defenses.
I know this because he had a failed negotiation with a Chilean boxer, all the very very small specialized media agreed that if you wanted a belt in the super flyweight division then Yafai is the guy to fight. I doubt he will leave the confort of the British scene. The money in England is good already and it's not like he is going to become a millionaire fighting on an undercard or something.

I'm not sure how legit the boxrec rankings are but none of his last fights are against guys in the top 10, some of them are not even top 20.

Estrada and Cuadras made about 60k each for their fight. That is so insane, really puts it into context when you hear guys griping in the higher divisions wanting millions to fight the top fighters at times.

That probably excludes taxes and whatever they pay out to the rest of their team.

Moved up too far.

Makes what Manny did that much more insane.

BJS is a ****ing joke. Once he fights somebody that I've heard of I'll take him seriously. Until then, he's a paper champ.

As much of an absolute tool as he comes off in that video, what he wanted to do seemed to work. He comes off as a psycho and Monroe looks uncomfortable with the situation

Canelo/GGG has a very good chance of determining who the #1 p4p in boxing is.

If it doesn't, Rigo/Lomachenko will.

Was just looking up how much to buy GGG/Canelo on box office...

Its free on box nation

Would have paid whatever. What's it like in America? I saw the last one was $99 or something, no wonder boxing is losing popularity over there!
