I might go into the football thread and tell them not to watch the 1st half of the match today because theres a great rugby game on the other side.

Then protect myself by saying...

"inb4 rugby haters troll"

very nervous for pac going into this one

my opinion is that pac should not be more aggressive, that plays right into jmms strengths. but rather if he is more passive, and make marquez come to him, then he has a better chance

Neither do I

I use thefirstrow.eu

JMM has to be more aggressive. The rounds he won in the third fight he won because he got off first. The close rounds almost always go to the aggressor and that aggressor was Pacquiao in most rounds. This time Marquez has to be first in more often.

JMM looks stacked. I didn't think he'd look this built. I really think that he has a great chance to win if he takes the initiative a bit more often, especially because the judges might be thinking about how close those three other fights were and might slip him a round or two that were on the fence.

I guess the ultimate question is, "When does Marquez/Pacquiao V happen?" It's gonna be another close fight that goes the distance and it won't answer any questions. I originally thought Pacman would take it, but this is really anybody's game. If Rios/Alvarado didn't happen, this would be a huge favorite for Fight of the Year.

I will sound crazy when I say this, but Marquez/Pacquiao might be the greatest boxing rivalry since Sugar Ray Robinson/Jake La Motta. They are both perfect foils for each other.

I'm showing the UFC card on Fox from 5-7 pm Pacific Time. The Pac ppv starts at 6 pm PT so watching UFC should only conflict with the first boxing undercard. The Pac fight shouldn't start until 8pm PT at the earliest.

This is the first comment I've seen which confirms my observation for their last fight. For all the talk of Marquez the counter-puncher, I thought he did his best work getting off first in that fight. He was in fact the aggressor a decent amount of the time and looked damn good at it. Whether getting off first or counter-punching, what Marquez needs to do most is follow up relentlessly and without delay after getting in the hard right.

Mayweather carried out that strategy to perfection against Marquez and made Marquez look old, slow, awkward and outclassed in the process. I don't think this conflicts with the observation above because in Pac-JMM III, Pac was there to be attacked as he looked for his own attack. Mayweather, on the other hand, laid back and forced Marquez to chase him which is totally outside the Marquez skillset. Trouble is, the Pacman has never fought that way and it's not clear he ever could.

meh, Marquez took the fight for the money, he was in no way ready for that fight. They had him lifting boulders and rocks which is pretty lol Their plan was "put on a ton of weight and get bigger than you've ever been before, **** speed" which obv didn't go to well.

edit: but yeah, that should be Pacs plan.

yea exactly

except i think pac can fight that way. once i thought of this, i went back to some of pac's highlights vs delahoya and cotto and he was fighting more off his back foot. pac gave these guys respect and didnt just bumrush in. he would fight with his weight leaning on his back foot, and only after he found an opening, then he would go super aggro.

That was pretty good from John Ryder. O'Kane was game but outclassed.
