I don't hold it against Dawson quitting here, although his corner should have stopped it immediately upon the final knockdown. Dawson had no chance and he knew it. This was a far different situation than say Tszyu, Ortiz, or Duran saying they'd had enough when the fight was still on the line.

Well done to Ward, I can't imagine anyone out there who can beat him at the moment. I still found it ugly to watch though, holding is my most hated thing in boxing and he was still doing it far too much for my liking. People are massively overrating Dawson I think, the only time he fought someone close to elite who wasn't over 40 years of age he lost to Jean Pascal.

Good move by Dawson quitting, no shame in it. He had zero chance of winning at that point. All you guys are saying that you've never seen anything like it before - Edison Miranda quit in a similar way earlier that night as did Victor Ortiz recently.

It's so annoying that the Canelo and Martinez cards are happening at the same time. I am not too interested in Canelo-Lopez but the undercard does look good. Martinez-Chavez on the other hand is my most anticipated fight of the year. Hopefully I can record the Canelo card and they don't give away any results on the Martinez-Chavez broadcast. This is a prime example of the Arum-Golden Boy feud ruining boxing.

I think Dawson's win over Adamek was a pretty good one. Looking back, that may havebeen his one win over a really good fighter that was still in his prime. I definitely overrated him, but I was glad Ward won. Apparently, Miranda hurt Dawson pretty bad in sparring. I guess they spent all they had before their fights.

alternatives are not so appealing either. Bradley rematch is less warranted, and Cotto rematch is lol.

What choice does Manny have? Bradley doesn't deserve a rematch. Everybody knows that he lost that fight. Manny has beaten every worthy opponent in his weight division except Mayweather and Floyd continues to pussy out of fighting him.

Either Manny moves up in weight and fights somebody there or he fights against JMM, the lone fighter who could give Manny trouble. The fight against JMM will probably bring in more cash as the two fighters remain evenly matched.

I'm looking forward to Martinez/Chavez more than any other fight at the moment. It's about time Martinez gets an opponent. Most everybody has been scared to death to fight this guy.

I would actually have preferred Cotto given Manny's slight decline and Cotto's current motivation and exciting style, I think Cotto is as close to his prime as he can be for how long it's been since his actual prime. Floyd dominated him obviously but Manny will actually open up and it could be a great rematch.

I'm actually surprised that for financial reasons they didn't as the casual boxing fan is probably still more excited with Cotto than JMM.

Although Cotto is considered the third largest draw among the top fighters in the sport behind Pacquiao and Money, he got beat so badly by Pacquiao that there wouldn't be any interest. JMM provides the toughest challenge for Pacman at the moment.

Damn, when was the last time two fighters fought each other more than three times? Lamotta/Robinson?

------------------------------

Anyway I think Chavez Jr could overtake Cotto as the third biggest draw if he beats Martinez. He's an exciting fighter and his name has made him a star in Mexico, but he's still largely unknown to the mainstream boxing audience. An exciting victory against Martinez will definitely put him above Cotto in that area.

So the plan was to get Manny, 50 and Floyd to form a promotional company together? That's weird. I wonder why Floyd dropped out. Maybe the rumors of 50 sleeping with Ms. Jackson are true. lol

Strangely enough, it was JMM's brother: Rafael Marquez vs. Israel Vazquez.

Should I put money on Chavez or Martinez?

Is it worth betting on Canelo?

(Never bet on sports before, heading to Vegas this weekend)

No and no.

The only thing I'd consider taking is the over in the Chavez/Martinez fight.

The fourth fight was actually a big let-down after the first three. I think the third was the greatest fight I've seen live/as live.
