Probably not smart to put much weight in pre fight antics but I gotta say Martinez looked way more hungry in the FaceOff sitdown with Kellerman and Chavez than I have seen in the past. He really wants to beat the **** out of Chavez.

def don't have enough traffic to warrant a boxing subforum unfortunately. We have not even filled up a page in the entire last month.

Next week is a big weekend for boxing .....

HBO
Saturday, September 8 2012
Oracle Arena, Oakland, California
Andre Ward vs. Chad Dawson (super middleweight)

Got so much love for Ward ,future of boxing .Just wish there where more bigger fights for him

Showtime
Saturday, September 8 2012
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas
Randall Bailey vs. Devon Alexander (welterweight)

Was at ringside when Bailey got battered all night by Jones on Pacman undercard, then he pulls out an amazing KO.Bailey couldn't stop crying afterwards, great story and I was so glad to see him win the title after all these years (oh and I will pray every night until next weekend that he does the same to Devon)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_5_c8UGlkM

(KO at the 2 min mark for the non boxing fans, but still like a good KO)

yeah unfortunately not enough traffic. mma is much bigger on these forums and they only have 1 thread going too.

Hopefully this fall will turn things around. I can see people going sour on Boxing (i certainly have, for the first time in 20 years) after the ridiculously horrible year we've had.

I think Alexander is gonna destroy Bailey personally. That last Bailey fight might have been the worst fight I have ever seen until the crazy KO

But go Bailey

The thing with Bailey is that he could be getting destroyed, but still have a chance of winning with that devastating right hand. I'd like to see Bailey get lucky and connect with one just to see if Alexander's chin is up to the task.

^Freddie Roach.

Sorry but it makes ZERO sense.
Cotto is fighting Austin Trout. The options for Pacquiao are now down to Bradley and Marquez, so probably Marquez.

What level did you fight at? It's something I would like to try one day but on the other hand I don't want to get my face smashed up.

My favourite part of the face off was when Chavez said that Martinez should have fought people like Zbik and Martinez's face basically said "who the **** is Zbik??"

If Chavez is going to win then I think it will look very similar to Cotto-Margarito 1. I think (and hope) Martinez destroys him though.

DOH...........

IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey has reportedly suffered a back injury forcing the postponement of his September 8 title defense against Devon Alexander in Las Vegas. Bailey-Alexander will likely be rescheduled for late October. The September 8 card/Showtime telecast is expected to go ahead with Lucas Matthysse vs. Ajose Olusegun as the new headliner.

Should get Golovkin Pirog but doubt that's happening anytime soon.

Proksa is legit so this win is very very impressive.

Sorry to see Martinez-Chavez will be PPV but happy to see Martinez finally get the kind of payday he deserves.

Chavez should have asked Martinez why he hasn't fought Golovkin. And everybody should ask the Martinez-Chavez winner why don't they fight Golovkin. What balls on the guy. Says he'll fight anybody from 154 to 168 including Andre Ward. Spars with heavyweights and last night looked like he hits like one. And he can box!

Oh ****, Martinez/Chavez is going to be a sick match.

Pacquiao/Marquez? I'm probably going to start rooting for JMM. Last fight was super-close.

I'm not sure who can even care about Pac/JMM anymore. If JMM wins everyone will say it was bound to happen sooner or later. If Pac wins it will be standard/"OMG WE NEED PAC/JMM 5!!!"

I'd just retire if I was JMM. Great career and amazing fighter and he probably will retire if he loses again.

I shouldn't really complain that I get to see two greats of the sport go at it, but it doesn't exactly thrill me. I do prefer it to a Cotto rematch though.

Cotto rematch is among the dumbest things ever.

Marquez Pac is fine given the alternatives. At least Marquez beat Pac fair, something Bradley didn't.

Fight with Floyd really never happening. Especially considering how Bob Arum set it up for Bradley to "beat" him.

Rematch Marquez, close fight but given the nod regardless who deserves it.
Rematch Bradley, most likely win.
Farewell fight against whoever.
profit.
retire.

I'll be happy when he's gone. There's no time machine where i can transform him into the golden days against Barrera, Morales etc.
Better to give the other fighters some space. Like Chavez Martinez! Really looking forward to 24/7.

Also Ward-Dawson, they are so boring to watch on their own they obviously decided that they might as well fight each other.

Maybe Vitali's last fight on Saturday. He will probably fight Haye next though I think.

Hopefully Golovkin will fight again soon. We have seen a few fighters look sensational then follow it up with inactivity such as Gamboa and Donaire, it's so frustrating.

Will Mayweather fight again in 2012? I suppose if Alvarez has an easy night with Lopez then those two could get it on in December. Unlikely though I think.

Mayweather won't fight again this year.

I also hope Chad Dawson gets KTFO.

I can't see Chad Dawson beating Andre Ward. Ward is too smart of a fighter. Dawson's camp keeps saying lol worthy things like "on the inside it would be a short night for Ward", which pretty much guarantees they are terrified of Ward on the inside- as they should be.

If Ward beats Dawson he will have beaten so many good opponents the last few years and the public still won't know his name. I think he will have to consider moving down or talking Martinez-Chavez winner into moving up to get the kind of payday and press his abilities warrant. Actually he needs to hope that Chavez wins because that's where the money and stardom will come from. As good as Martinez has been, he doesn't have much of a following either.
