After the first Louis-Walcott fight Louis immediately left the ring, had to be dragged back for the decision, and then told a weeping Walcott "I'm sorry". Walcott's manager had vague mob connections, had bet 100K at 10-1 on Walcott.
Didn't watch last night, but that & Whitaker's loss to Ramirez and draw with Chavez prolly the ones that rank with it, tho there have been plenty of other stinkers, and of course there's amateur boxing...and gymnastics, skating, basketball, etc. At least all three judges had it 7-5, none of this 10-2 Hagler-Leonard stuff.
Roth is 81, Ford is 84. Here's some history for you. Both Roth & Ford worked the Holmes-Cooney fight. After 12 rounds (Holmes won in the 13th) Cooney had had 3 points deducted for low blows (LOL no DQ, racist rig), and was knocked down in the 2nd. Ford and the other judge had Holmes ahead by only two points, while Roth had Holmes ahead by six.
