Ref should have waved it off after the KD in R4, Cintron wanted no more.

Good stop by the ref. Any more and he'd have brain damage.

Maybe, I agree with it though. His body was totally leaned over and he stopped defending himself because both gloves were on the mat holding him up.

He took a beating and it wasn't going to get any better.

Meh, If Cintro comes up Canelo ends his career.

i really felt like with the power that canelo has, we were one good shot away from seeing some serious damage any second

good stoppage, obvious, its not like cintron was going to do anything

i think alvarez could be the best fighter at 154 already.
Would love to see him end margaritos career after cotto gets his revenge.

would love a kirkland vs alvarez fight too.

I really think Canelo could be floyds opponent for his cinco de mayo date. It makes a lot of sense if we can't get pac vs floyd.

So basically, for 2012 we have.

1st half:
Mayweather vs Alvarez
Pacquiao vs Marquez XXXIIVVIVIVIVIIVIV

2nd half:
Mayweather vs Khan
Pacquiao vs Bradley

The second half is mostly speculations based on past comments from Khan, Roach etc. And we already knew bradley was more or less promised a shot at pac for signing with TR.

I agree it should happen, but there's no way I can see PBF taking a high risk fight with Alvarez anytime soon. PBF's bum-hunting skills are too sharp to fall into that trap. Alvarez doesn't have the name brand recognition yet to lure in mass PPV crowds PBF now demands.

Plus the upside is so limited for Floyd and not for Alvarez. If Alvarez loses he gets a huge pay day and his only loss will be to the current pound for pound champ. If Floyd loses (which I think is possible) it kills any hope of a retirement pay day in a fight with Pac.

I think accusing floyd of bumhunting is getting a bit stale. Sure, i was not pleased when he fought bruselles or the likes but every fighter have those kinds of fights.
It's funny how the fighters people accuse him of ducking are only top rank promoted fighters. That and Tszyu but claiming floyd ducked kostya is just clueless at best.

I think Alvarez could really bring in the mexican viewers both in the US and in mexico. And this group is what drives boxings economy. I'd easily see this fight doing 1.4 million, with a (very) small chance of doing really absurd numbers in the 1.7-1.9 region.

What else is there tho? Khan is not ready. Pac don't seem to want it (or rather, the new spin is he do want it but bob arum won't let him.. lol). Martinez is quite unrealistic in terms of risk minimizing.

So we have the winner of berto/ortiz? I don't know. I don't see that fight doing too well. Maybe Cotto/Margarito winner but once again... top rank. Bradley, top rank.
Guerrero rumor is mostly fueled by guerreros handlers and i don't see that ever happening. The morales rumor is equally absurd.

No. I'd bet on Floyd vs Canelo is next. That or a very tiny chance of it being Pac. If Berto looks really good against Ortiz hes in the mix too, but then he can't have injuries etc to be ready for a may date.

called it perfectly, as soon as he got hit in the 4th he wanted nothing more to do with Canelo.

I think you misunderstood me. I said all of that as an avid PBF fan. He's my favorite boxer by a landslide so when I said he is still a great bum-hunter I said it as a fan.

With that said, there is nothing left for him besides Pac. That is the pay-day he's waiting for. If he fights someone else it doesn't matter who it is. The PPV numbers for anyone but Pac will be around the same (1-1.3 million range) so if he does fight someone else it needs to be someone who doesn't have the potential to murder him and ruin his undefeated career. There's just no upside for him taking the fight. I'd be shocked if it happened.

100% this. Throw the UK into that mix as well but ldo to a lesser degree.

Folks itt shouldn't underestimate how big Canelo's name recognition already is in Mexico. Boxing-wise, he might not be ready. Publicity-wise, he's ready.

RIP Ron Lyle, one of the many great 2nd tier heavyweights of the '70s, most of whom are gone now.

Lyle-Foreman top ten all-time, Round 4 top five all-time imo. Lyle was ahead on two cards against Ali when the fight was stopped, somewhat early, in the 11th.

Pretty excited for this Cotto/Margarito II. Also re the PBF/Canelo fight, everyone in Mexico who is pro Julio Cesar Chavez keeps mentioning that Canelo is a huge bum-hunter, I think this Canelo vs JCC has to happen in 2012, it's going to be humongous. Mainly because each boxer is backed by a TV network and the whole country is split as well
