Yes, I saw something similar. Once again we are going round in circles. One of Pacquiao/Mayweather/Arum/De La Hoya/Schafer etc. is reported to have said something then everyone gets worked up about it then it turns out not to be true. I never bother reading articles about that situation any more.

yeah this will be interesting.

i remember last time this judge was involved, and Arum denied mayweathers camp had offered a 14 day compromise. Judge came out and said arum was lying, which arum then admitted he was.
If it happens again, i wouldn't be shocked.

It makes sense tho. Arum said immediately after the fight he wanted to make jmm vs pac 4, and konc said "we haven't decided on jmm yet. It's mannys decision. Bob Arum will only suggest he fights jmm".

Whatever. It is what it is. I'd be willing to bet we won't see this fight during 2012, if ever.

Please explain why, I'm not a boxing purist. I don't understand all the promoter angles, since I don't keep up with it in a media sense.

If you suspect Manny has an issue with counter-punchers and/or is facing a number of distractions that take away from his focus on boxing, the last thing Arum wants to do is put Manny (and his image) in the ring with a fighter that could do serious harm to his reputation.

I have no idea what's going through Manny's mind, but the guy is an actual congressman with supposed aspirations of being his countries President. If that's really the case and he can't focus on boxing 100%, it's probably time he retires (as much as I hate to say it).

the thing is, to Bob Arum manny is a resource. Hes making an extreme amount of money out of him.
He would jeopardize that by putting him in a fight he is not favored to win, such as a fight against floyd.

Arum don't care about Mannys legacy. He don't care about the sport. He care about his own well being. Same with almost all businessmen in the sport.

yeah its a great shame that the incentive structure for boxing's promoters has been to squeeze every last drop of money out of everyone.

only title fights make big money? lets make a million belts so EVERY fight is a title fight!

only undefeated fighters make big money? lets make sure no decent prospect ever loses by having them fight bums for the first 8 years of their career!

if fighter X wins there's a big money rematch? lets make sure fighter X wins by bribing the **** out of the judges!

muhammad ali has parkinsons? no matter! get me larry holmes on the phone!

makes me sick. and that stupid MMA **** is gonna overtake boxing because its centralised.

Not to argue with your idea, but people always say this and it's really only true in the immediate future. Once the money really starts to come in, MMA will fragment just like boxing.

It's not that hard to find two guys to beat the **** out of each other if people want to watch.

Carl Froch is happy to be the underdog against Andre Ward in their super-middleweight clash in Atlantic City next month because he has "made the bookies look stupid many times before".

The British star is putting his WBC title against Ward's WBA belt in the final of the two-year Super Six series.

"He'll have to go deeper and harder than ever before - I'm going to drag him into the trenches," Froch said.

"It will be extraordinarily uncomfortable for him."

Well I can't imagine many people supporting Andre Ward. He has to be one of the most boring boxers/people in the sport right now.

So it looks like Antonio Margarito has been denied a license in New York and the fight will be moved elswhere, which is ok for us I guess but imagine how the people who bought tickets are feeling right now.

i take it i'm the only one who never wants to see Margarito in the ring again unless his opponent has a baseball bat?

**** him, cheating **** doesn't deserve to share the ring with a champ like Cotto.

Possibly, the desire to cook up the fight with Floyd Mayweather , the bets, influenced everything, everything. I think that here, even Bob Arum realized it. I went up to the press conference, and Bob Arum said to me “It’s business.” What does that make you think?” I could have given him a huge smack (studio laughs)… the truth, the truth is I’m a person who shows respect, an educated (in Spanish meaning well-mannered) person, but it gave me the nerve to want to say “Yea? It’s Business? Let’s see how well your business goes for you now.” But if you have the nerve to say “it’s business”... sure, you take care of your business, but who looks after my efforts? My 18 years of career? The hopes of beating the supposed “best pound-for-pound”? It’s because of these things that I want to say “let me retire from this sport”, which I love a lot, but this is disgusting. “Business is business, but you can go **** yourself”; that doesn’t work.
