How did Marquez get shafted? (and trust me I was rooting for him)
Yeah he lost a close fight...so what? There has to be one winner and one loser, and in a close fight like that, the losing party is always going to be pissed...but shafted or jobbed? no way.

Why did JMM have to convincingly win whereas Pac didn't?

When two title holders fight, which one has to convincingly win? What if one has 2 belts and the other has 1, does the person with 1 belt have to slightly win?

How about we just stick to awarding the fight to the winner of the fight.

Yeah, it was close. Not a robbery by any means, imo. Nacho did a terrible job by telling JMM he had this fight won. JMM went into the last round just trying not to get knocked down, and lost that round because of it.

it wasnt close enough to warrant

a) pacquiaos victory

b) 116-112 aka 8-4 with the 12th round going to jmm. He actually scored the first 8/11 rounds for pac.

That is absurd. That is corrupt. That is cheating.

I agree that one was a little strange. I would have preferred the fight to have been called a draw, and it would have been had JMM won the 12th on the 114-114 scorecard. Then the 115-113 would have been 114-114, with the other two split...

Everyone knows that in a close fight Manny was going to probably get the decision. He's the aggressor, threw more punches, land more, etc. JMM had the cleaner punches, but it wasn't enough to take a decision away from Pacquiao. JMM said it multiple times in interviews that he has to win every round convincingly.

They gave Marquez the draw first time around then realized Manny had more potential the 2nd time and stole it from Marquez.

Yes, everyone knows that boxing is somewhat corrupt and that Pac was getting any close decisions. That doesn't make it ok.

116-112 Pac, I think.

What did the scorecards say for the telecast you were watching?

The commentators didn't keep updated round scores but both felt Marquez won.

The guys in the studio scored it 118-111 and 117-113 JMM if I remember rightly.

JMM didn't do himself any favors by basically giving Manny the 12th round by doing nothing. Manny landed one clean shot on JMM in the 12th, and that gave him to round.

Nacho did a poor job telling JMM he was clearly winning.

I feel bad for Marquez even though I didn't know him before tonight. 38 years old. "Should" have won vs the "greatest" fighter of this generation. Clearly robbed.

Sucks.

Wow. Now that would be "jobbed" if those were the actual scorecards.

had two lolterrible announcers on my telecast (swedish tv ftl), both highly decorated amateur fighters tho.

One had 115-113 marquez, one had 116-112 marquez. Both gave him the 12th.

Meh

My reaction when I heard 116-112 was that it had to be Marquez.

Make of that what you will.

no matter what you think about the result of this fight, does anyone still give manny a good shot at beating mayweather?

He was offering to fight Marquez next during the 12th round anticipating his victory.

I never gave Pacquiao a chance against Floyd. Why would this change your mind? He had done the same if not worse vs Marquez in the first two and everyone proclaimed him to be King and Pound for Pound and whatnot. What changes with today's third similar showing?
