A PPV for the fight cost $60, if Manny v. PBF draws 3 million buys (which it might have when everyone had the fever) that's $180mil to be spread around. The record is 2.15mil buys for Floyd and ODLH, so it's obv a reach to see 3mil, but there's still a TOOOOOON of money to be made in the mega-fight.

4. seriously, cortez again, i can't believe how terrible he was.
Cortez with a surprisingly beginner mistake. He's been reffing fights for a very long time. This move + Ortiz's happy-go-lucky response + Mayweather's WWE type of comments give me the impression that a fix was possible (though unlikely).

You could tell that Mayweather was happy to have Cortez has a ref. Cortez was really active in Mayweather/Hatton, effectively taking away Hatton's fighting style by breaking them early and often. Now, he turns away and Mayweather gets in some sucker punches.

lol @ boxing. what a debacle. next time, get a ref that is under 60 years of age. dude didn't have a clue what was going on.

This PPV was $70 (for HD). But yeah, if Floyd fights Manny, it'll probably be $50 million for each fighter.

Btw, the record in 2.44, I think.

Watch at 1:03. Cortez restarts the fight.

What does Cortez say @ 1:07?

well yea, but it seems like you risk killing the golden goose there

unless i'm mistaken, mayweather fights get huge buys because:

1. mayweather being mayweather
2. 24/7
3. undefeated

24/7 does a masterful job of basically selling the opponent, regardless of how much of a dog they are, as being worthy of buying the ppv to root for, but if mayweather ever loses a fight, i doubt very much he can make anywhere even close to 35 mil per for fighting guys he's a 5:1 fave against

soooooooo....why not put off pac for as long as u can and just print money feeding on the scraps

No doubt, and say what you want about Floyd, but he's a great promoter. There's no reason that the mega-fight shouldn't be his last.

Being boxing illiterate, one thing I do remember was reading/watching how you shouldn't bet Mayweather by KO in under 4 rounds, and then this debacle occurs.

Rematch? Ugh. This fight was not competitive. And it would really suck to basically reward Ortiz for standing there with his hands down and getting KTFO.

Best thing to happen tonight was Mayweather getting absolutely owned by Larry ****ing Merchant. I mean, really? He's 138 years old.

So ****ing angry/depressed/confused/drunk right now

So true, everytime I watch 24/7 I end up buying the fight, it's just gets the viewer involved and really wanting to see the fight live.

I'm not going to get into a heated debate but I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Ortiz headbutt is pretty messed up and there are no excuses for that but the punches thrown by Floyd are disgusting, pathetic, and terrible sportsmanship but legal.

One thing is certain, Larry Merchant made it worth the price just for the after fight interview.

OK, I'm done ranting about the POS floyd but I just noticed something hilarious. WTF is ortiz doing right at the beginning of the mayweather/merchant interview. Dude just got cheated and he's high-fiving mayweather and his boys. Then he stands there with a childish grin lmao
