really, can anyone imagine Hearns/Hagler/Leonard simply not fighting each other for years for ANY reason?

Hagler and Leonard took five year to fight.

Leonard waited a long, long time to fight Hagler. So long that Hagler ended up agreeing to stipulations that put him at a major disadvantage when they finally fought.

If you have a half hour or so, watch this HBO special on that fight.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

It's amazing that it really does seem like floyd joy is scared of losing. Common sense would dictate that he'd just go for the absurd amount of money he'd get.

Y'know what, at this point, I don't care anymore, I'll say it.

Thomas Hearns > Floyd Mayweather, if only because he wasn't a bitch. Gimme the Motor City Cobra over PBF any ****ing day of the week.

Goddammit I'm pissed.

I really don't get why some of you are oh so upset this fight didn't get signed.

Granted, i was upset 6-7 months ago when it went south for bull**** reasons, but this time? Did anyone of you really expect it to get signed?
Floyds trainer is going in to trial in a couple of months to likely get a sentence that would keep him from even participate in preparing him for this fight.

That coupled with the loltarded statements from Konc and Arum about them having finalized terms with Mayweathers camp when in fact they have never even been in contact with them directly, not to mention golden boy.
This has been a ridiculous process to generate good-will PR and nothing else.

It is comedic gold that Bob Arum is involved in this whole process thinking back how he acted in the SRL vs Hagler deal. Standing there with Ray proclaiming how he has nothing left to prove and that he should retire. Pfff. ****ed Marvin right in the ass.

Oh, also. Can anyone please tell me the terms they agreed upon this time? I keep reading in this thread that Pacquiao agreed to random testing but i can't find such information from any credible news source.
Is it the 14-day cutoff compromise he agreed upon several months after Mayweather said that offer was off the table?

All, please. Don't trust neither Bob Arum, Golden Boy or the Mayweathers. They are all scum that manipulates and lies constantly.
Expect Pacquiao to face Cotto at a catchweight for another title or the top-rank promoted scumbag cheater Margarito (who can't even get a license to fight in the US).
Bradley or Paul Williams? Nahhh.....

Yes he is. There is no question.

Joe Calzaghe was the same. Left the game while still being superb and still having big fights left. (Kelly Pavlik at the time pre-hopkins and Chad Dawson)

It is a problem when fighters make this their thing that will seperate them from other ATG's.
I really think Floyd Mayweather would have had a much better career if he had lost that fight vs Castillo. There would be nothing left but to take the toughest fights there is and chase that claim of being the greatest.

Pavlik was two weigh classes below Calzaghe who was 37 when announcing his retirement. The only real lhw challenge at the time was Dawson who was pretty unknown outside of boxing. Very different scenarios.

It was still a possibility that he (Joe) were considering. At a catchweight ofcourse, like Pavlik vs Hopkins.
Calzaghe only went to LHW for moneyfights. He was still more than capable of hitting 168.
With that said. There were not a lot of point in fighting Pavlik after he got beat by Hopkins so i won't hold that against Joe. I'm just saying Joe was very afraid of losing his 0 and that is why he went out "early" (still fully capable of being a top p4p fighter). I think he even said in interviews he valued being undefeated dearly.

Dawson is still just as unknown. Doesn't take away the legitimate challenge he was.
Kind of like Paul Williams, except Chad is a lot better.

Looks like it will be Margarito who fights Pacquiao next. Sigh.. A guy that got brutalized by Shane Mosley when his cheating failed.
It is better than a catchweight rematch with Cotto though i have got to say.
I wish everything in boxing weren't so money driven. Who wouldn't have rather seen Pacquiao vs Williams/Bradley? It's not like it would have sold a lot less.

They will probably fight for the vacant title (which is a little lol in itself but oh well, politics) that Sergio Martinez left.

Anyone here mexican? How is the support for this cheating bastard over there?

http://www.boxingscene.com/?m=show&id=29383

According to the article, the inhouse plan for top-rank is for Pacquiao to fight Margarito first, and for Cotto to fight JCC jr. If Pacquiao and Cotto wins a rematch between them is likely before they approach a Mayweather fight again in 2011.

Really dislike the fact that that cheating bastard might get a shot at Pac. Firstly the cheater will get a good payday and publicity. Secondly what if he somehow wins? Then he's in the mega money territory.

From what I hear, Margarito is still a big draw with the Mexican fans. Pacquiao makes the most money against Margarito so it's no surprise he wants to fight him. PW is a low reward, high risk fight which is why he is avoided by mostly everybody. Plus, you know Arum, he wants to keep all the money in house. Bradley is a great fighter, but not in Pac's league yet. Bradley has plenty of work to do in the 140 pound division.

Paul Williams would be a great fight for either guy. Shame he can't get either guy to face him.

not even close.

why is everyone mad at floyd. he told the world what the deal was during the after fight interview vs mosley.

floyd said, "if manny agrees to the drug testing, we have a fight, if he does not, we dont have a fight."

that is as plain as day.

mayweather does not need pac man. mayweather was a star when manny was fighting at 108 pounds and was unknown.

mayweather is not asking manny to do anything that he himself is not willing to do (drug testing)

i have a feeling that manny is hiding something by not agreeing to the drug testing. just saying.

What kind of testings tho? Is it the compromise 14 days that has been off the table for almost half a year or the original no cutoff random testings?

I have tried to find an answer to that but no one seems to know.

Not that i think that was the sticking point this time. I really think there is no chance in hell Floyd goes in to this fight not knowing who will coach him.

.....just asking.....

----

Btw, lol at people thinking Floyd would actually say in the media that his uncle beat up a female and might go to jail for it. No, he is not passing on 40million dollars because of a ****ing vacation.

"Like I said, I'm just supporting my family and relaxing," Mayweather said. "That's what I'm doing right now."

Read between the lines.

that is not true. he did not agree to the stringent drug testing timeline that mayweather proposes.

manny is looking for loopholes.

seems like he need time before the fight for those roids to kick in.

mayweather seeks a level playing field, why is manny opposed to that ??

no roids, manny gets tko'd,.

At the very least, Manny agreed to the 14 day cut off that Mayweather himself proposed in January. If it was good enough for Mayweather in January, I don't understand why it isn't good enough now.

Because it was a compromise and in Floyds mind he earned the right to be a pain in the ass when he outsold Pacquiao substantially when facing Mosley.

Hes even said a lot of times that 14-days won't be acceptable (this is pre Pacquiao accepting these dead demands) so i don't get how anyone can even say that "Pacquiao agreed to the terms". What terms?

Besides. Did anyone from Mayweathers camp (now i'm talking about someone relevant like Ellerbe or Haymon, not De la Hoya or Jeff Mayweather) say the 14-days sticking point was the deal breaker?
As i've said before. I can't understand how anyone of you could think it was even remotely possible for the fight to happen in november? Do you think Pacquiao would prepare without Roach? Hes not even allowed to wipe his ass without Freddie being around.
