players championship 14:

notes:

- yet more prize money for mvg, his twelfth ranking title of the season
- 6. suljovic is now a thing in the 64 rankings
- huge result for mcgowan. as alluded to a few posts up, he's now clear of mansell for a grand prix spot, this result moves him above mansell to get the second irish qualifying spot for the grand prix (with dolan). also makes him fairly likely to make the players' championship finals, so this is worth about 10 grand to him really
- hendo hadn't had as much as a quarter final since the uk open qualifiers so this is a bit out of nowhere
- big result for pipe, puts him in the grand prix as it stands at the expense of mark webster
- wilson also looking a lot more secure, more good form
- good score for kist, keeping himself ahead of the pack on the european scores for an ally pally berth
- vvdv keeping his grand prix hopes alive but still the wrong side of the line as it stands
- stevenson with another decent day, looking ok for the PC finals, for which the last name is currently, unbelievably, paul nicholson

pc 15: same old, same old:

notes:

- mvg obv richer, he hit a nine against whitlock to boot. not the only nine, jeffrey de graaf did against dobey in a losing effort
- wilson powers into my top 40 and locks up a grand prix spot to elevate him further, going one better than the three semi finals he's done in the last two months
- wattimena with a great performance, this could be a breakthrough, he's kept picking up low 4 figure scores here and there but will help him a bunch
- van den bergh has basically been crap since beating white in the worlds, nice to see he still has it
- stevenson keeping going
- dobey again. trust me, he's good
- corner maybe starting to back up his great challenge tour results with something more than a last 64 uk open finish

grand prix spots are decided after tomorrow, according to my man @bsd987 it looks like this for the last 4 spots:

caven 27750
green 27000
payne 26500
pipe 26250
----------
van der voort 26250
wattimena 25750
reyes 25000
m webster 24750

bunch of people can god mode into it by finalling/winning but we'll ignore those. pipe leads vinny on countback. mcgowan's close to safe for this, mansell needs a last 16 at the very minimum and that's with a mcgowan first round bust. speaking of which, suljovic had one of those, the first time he's not cashed an event this year

Still going in PC16, but Caven and Green have done enough, Reyes made a quarter and has the third spot, VVDV has done more than Pipe/Payne as it stands, but Steve West and Ricky Evans have made hero runs to the semis and play each other - West is in with a win regardless, while Evans would need to bink the whole thing, against MvG or Huybrechts who are in the other semi

Edit - Mansell did make the last 16, but McGowan won his first round game to qualify by £250. MvG, Whitlock and Meeuwisse have all hit nines today

Edit 2 - West beats Evans so LOL VVDV, didn't fancy nananananananananananaing anyway

Full results:

Notes:
- MvG now has 41 wins in a row in ranking events
- Which would have been zero, but West lost a 5-4 lead and missed 110 for the title, still his best score ever though and places him in my live top 50
- Evans with his best result (barring winning the WC qualifier last year) since 2013
- Reyes may not be too far away from being seeded for the worlds at this rate
- Dobey now in my live top 60, his best run in a Players Championship having previously made this stage in Europe
- van Peer with a second quarter of the season, the first being the one that got him in the UK Open
- Stevenson with another last 16 finish

I gotta admit, I am pumped to hear Reyes made it. The '15 worlds was the first big tournament I watched from beginning to end so his run there was definitely an inspiration for me to start throwing seriously.

64, Let me know if any of Sky's cameras land on or near you in Ireland, so I can be on the lookout for a 'GOAT Quicksilvre'

Nope. BBC videos don't work on my phone, probably watch it later

It's that top 8 exbo on the beeb this weekend, they've got the good (Nicholson), the bad (Warriner) and the token welsh as it's in Cardiff (Webster) on comms. Away this weekend so won't be watching but can't look past mike to bink but lol 3/4 odds

If there's one thing I hate about BBC's sports coverage it's their "artsy" little poetry montages, usually voiced by Andrew Cotter or Eddie Butler. Now they have Russ Bray making a fool of himself. **** them.

Meh, BBC coverage is awesome. No ads is great. Pretty **** final though. MvG just didn't get going.

I think the total opposite. Eddie Butler's voice over a montage is always, for me, one of the best things about the BBC Olympic coverage.

I didn't know Lisa Tarbuck and Miranda Hart had a daughter who presents darts on TV though.

It's basically the only thing I dislike about it. Just comes across as very tryhard, and not very fitting usually.
