You mean Peter "The New Terry Jenkins" Wright?
The Random Darts Discussion Thread Quote
03-06-2016 , 05:00 PM
yeah, it probably loses but that's a large number

edit - here's the thing, wright was a shorter price to win in the matchplay semi last year which is a much longer game, sure mvg is on fire but i don't think that quite counters it

busy weekend on the pdc tour, with two uk qualifiers for european events and two players championships

on the european scene, the following qualified:

for both: daryl gurney, alan norris, john henderson, joe cullen, joe murnan, kevin painter

just for gibraltar: ross smith, nick fullwell, justin pipe, stephen bunting, gerwyn price, jamie lewis, andy hamilton, steve beaton, mark walsh, steve west, dave pallett, wayne jones, kyle anderson, stuart kellett (who hit a nine in his deciding match). note no phil, who lost to ross smith

just for hamburg: phil taylor, richie corner, darren webster, josh payne, jamie robinson, ricky williams, mark webster, jonny clayton, jon worsley, jamie caven, chris dobey, andrew gilding, darren johnson, devon petersen

players championship 1:

other than phil not playing enough that he ends up in the same section of the draw as mvg and the inevitable happens, no huge lols here. see also wade, losing in the last 32 to barney

players championship 2:

some solid lol here. pallett was 5-0 down to MvG in the second round, who left himself 150, who decided to yolo it up and go for three bulls, successfully. mvg also hit a nine against white in the quarters. how he loses to bunting, idk, but nice to see him win his first ranking title in two years. wade lost to mick mcgowan, barney lost to newton, anderson lost to steve west, taylor lost to clark, chizzy lost to a german

on the bdo side apparently o'shea and fitton won events this weekend, the former maybe in the isle of man, but as the bdo haven't even discovered the internet, let alone twitter, i'm just going off of colin lloyd retweeting their common sponsors, so this may not have happened

Six perfect for Barney in a leg he opened and he loses it, lol

so thornton somehow managed to beat smith and draw with mvg, which is putting him a point ahead of smith and chizzy with one game to go before they drop the bottom two - smith plays taylor so he's ****ed, chizzy could maybe get a point against wright which would keep him in it on leg difference unless thornton matched his result, he plays adie. also got mvg/barney and lolwade/ando so will probably watch next week.

german darts masters starts in about half an hour, lolhopp failed to qualify and lolartut also failed to qualify, hopp losing to eidams which is maybe fair enough but artut lost to some guy called fabian herz who is basically a career jobber, i.e. has previously lost 6-0 to andy smith

afternoon matches:

mark walsh - thomas junghans (winner plays white)
john michael - ronny huybrechts (klaasen)
cristo reyes - mark barilli (dolan)
jeffrey de graaf - darren johnson (smith)
fabian herz - john bowles (lewis)
daryl gurney - dimitri van den bergh (anderson)
rene eidams - pete hudson (van gerwen)
andrew gilding - james richardson (jenkins)

evening:

mike zuydwijk - joe cullen (wade)
kevin painter - stuart kellett (pipe)
chris dobey - ben davies (thornton)
tomas seyler - willie o'connor (huybrechts)
jermaine wattimena - alan norris (chisnall)
marko puls - james wilson (suljovic)
stephen bunting - steve beaton (wright)
devon petersen - nathan aspinall (van de pas)

bets:

0.5u Michael 39/20
0.5u Barilli 19/10
0.5u Eidams 21/20
1u Petersen 4/7

edit - in other news, uk open hero lynn managed to win on the challenge tour last weekend

damnit Michael (phone wanted to auto complete with jelle, lol), out score him hugely but miss dozens of darts at double

and now Reyes hits a 160 kill to break, ffs

eidams was free money, petersen played bad but got there to break even, so mushnt grumble

today i'll have:

1u Reyes 10/11 vs Dolan, seemed ok vs barilli and dolan's in really poor form
0.25u Cullen 11/5 vs Wade, joe's having a great resurgence of form and can trouble lolwade enough in a short format
1.5u Huybrechts 4/11 vs O'Connor, when you're having trouble to beat tomas seyler and can't average 80 while doing so, you'll probably have trouble against kim, that o'connor likes the venue is the only worry

meh, will take a 12 darter for a 6-1 win and easy money

damnit, huybrechts ruining everything as usual

last 16 starting in ~20 through the usual channels, lineup is:

Peter Wright v Cristo Reyes
Adrian Lewis v James Richardson
Ian White v Jelle Klaasen
Michael Smith v James Wilson
Joe Cullen v Benito van de Pas
William O'Connor v Gary Anderson
Dave Chisnall v Chris Dobey
Michael van Gerwen v Kevin Painter

quarters onwards are played this evening. only one bet today, 0.25u Dobey 11/4 vs Chisnall, Dobey looked very, very good in knocking out Thornton, never really allowing Thornton a chance to break him, holding easily to 5-4 and then breaking in the tenth, hitting five tons and averaging >100 in the process. Chizzy meanwhile didn't have it all his own way against Wattimena, and is the type that while he may break Dobey once by outscoring him, he will give a couple of chances back on the other end, at least enough for it to be a bet. Think this should be nearer 4/9 - 2/1 really

102 average, 7 180's, easy game

incredible session so far, white/klaasen the best game i've seen all year, at least four booooooooooooo's, wright/reyes and bvdp/cullen incredibly tense games, still got mvg to come

Lineup for the quarters is Wright/Richardson, White/Smith, Cullen/Anderson and van Gerwen/Dobey starting in ~10 minutes

0.25u Richardson 9/2, Wright's looked solid but not spectacular, and someone who knocked out Lewis can easily get there 20% of the time

damnit, he had a bunch of 180's but just messed up finishing in the first two legs, should have been 3-1 up rather than 3-1 down

meanwhile, the third quarter final finished 6-0

Spoiler:
lol anderson

nearly lol mvg, breaks with an 11 darter inc. two 180's in a deciding leg

Final results:

Ended up half a unit for an investment of just under six, ****ing huybrechts

We've got the important week of the PL on Thursday, then nothing on the weekend, before a triple header of Pro Tour events on the 8-10 April, then a big break with **** all happening apart from a couple of mid-level BDO events in Germany which might give us clues for who to bet in some of the later Euro Tour events.

When Taylor does his sign the board spiel, and he "playfully" takes the board surround and throws it at or puts it over the head of the scorer, 100% of the time they have this look on their face that says "**** off you ****". Wanker.
