Yeh, he's a terrible loser as well but you can't have nothing but respect for what he has and will continue to achieve in the game.

Some players I thought had just given up and retired still hanging around the top 50. Haven't seen some of them in literally years on TV.

So the Perth Darts Masters is this weekend, and they had a meet and greet today, did the draw and all that kind of thing.

I had things to do so couldnt make it for the actual function (7-10pm) but decided to go to the hotel the players are staying at anyway just in case a few were still floating around the bar in the hotel after the event.

Got to meet a few players such as Chizzy and a few local players, but in all seriousness Peter Wright might be my new favourite player. Had time to chat with all the little people, listened to all the various drunk idiots who had obviously had a few too many, and pose for photos and the rest. Hope he ships it.

The Perth leg isn't on TV but the Sydney leg next week should be.

Draw (no idea if this is how it will play out for quarters and semis or not, I assume it isn't because Peter mentioned something about not having to play Whitlock/Vinay Cooper (who apparently all the locals rate for some reason) until the final

Paul Nicholson v Shane Tichowitsch
Raymond van Barneveld v Loz Ryder
Dave Chisnall v Justin Miles
James Wade v Beau Anderson
Peter Wright v Warren Parry
Simon Whitlock v Vinay Cooper
Phil Taylor v David Platt
Michael van Gerwen v Kyle Anderson

I assume you mean qualify?

I didn't bother in the end. There was a two day $1100 poker event on in Perth on the Friday afternoon with the final table being played on the Saturday. I made the final table as the chipleader and decided that playing for five figures in a game I am actually pretty good at is more important than physically lighting $25 on fire at 9am in the morning.

The Sunday, after a good result in the poker tournament (chopped heads up vs only opponent I would ever do a deal with, didn't win trophy though) was too hungover to do anything else.

Believe it or not turned one side of his head into an advertisement for 6PR (a local radio station) where the snake used to be

His mohawk was rainbow coloured today.

props to mervyn king for taking down the latest euro event for 20 large, beating michael smith 6-5 in the decider. moves him into my live top 10, and smith's up to 22. whitlock and bunting lost in the semis (bunting now into my live top 30), and a good showing from the austrian lad rodriguez, who got into the last 16 for a couple of grand and up to 90 and rising in my live rankings, is a very good shout to qualify for the worlds at this stage

I actually like the double in. It's just nice to have a different sort of format in one tournament.

sixfour,

How do you create your rankings? Any methodology behind them or are they just your informed opinion as an avid fan? If it's the former I'd be very interested in getting some clues as to how you're creating them.

I take the pdc money list and prorate it depending on time elapsed since it was won. It's not ideal but obv better than the actual pdc list. Plus I don't want to try doing an elo-based system again after laying whitlock every round of the worlds when he got to the final and did my bollocks as a result

Thanks. Maybe you could try to weight both approaches to create an even more accurate rating.
I was thinking about trying my hand creating a ranking using average score and checkout percentage but I never got around to it.
