Before the world championship, Painter was ranked higher than Hamilton and I think most would say he was the better player and in better form. Shame that one good tournament dictates the PL choices. Lol variance.

Other then speed, I dont see any real way a darts player can really be "exciting" unless its some kind of useless act like Nicholson.

I have no personal preference between either Painter or Hamilton, except the only real "exciting" thing that Painter did was go for the bull (aiming for 25) with two darts on 65.

Since I am a massive anti-England homer, I would have preferred any of Webster, Peterson, Nicholson, Part, Dolan or Huybrechts in the Premier League ahead of them...

Anyway, draw for the PDC World Cup of Darts is actually out

http://www.pdc.tv/page/PDCWorldCupAr...571309,00.html

Going for Australia (obviously) but would like to see New Zealand and South Africa do well, as well as Scotland and Canada if just for the individuals involved...

If Alcinas had managed to beat Hamilton in the first round we could be talking about Hamilton not even making 32 man fields for most tournaments.

And I am aware going for bull on 65 isnt exciting, its just stupid, and thats the point.

@ sixfour

Is "walking in a Chizzee wonderland" a darts reference?

And why the hell are you call sixfour, and why should you be sevenfour?

I agree that if Hamilton had lost vs Alcinas I wouldnt be talking about him regarding the Premier League. But doesnt the same hold for Painter. He pretty much luckboxed the players championship, averaging like 93. Had he not won that championship nobody would be talking about him and Hamilton would be ranked higher even if he didnt reach the final.

And Hamilton was not completely emotionless imo (especially compared to Jenkins lol).

Unfortunately the first round of matches is just a best of 11 legs doubles match, so we wouldnt get to see Hashimoto vs Caris in singles.

I like the fact that there isnt that donk Round of 16 game which is just a best of 11 legs matchup, I am assuming because of LOLEngland last time around with Wade and Power from last time... FWIW the new format is to have two singles and a bonus round doubles (both best of 7), with a 2-2 tie being a one leg playoff... Same for the quarter finals, semis have reverse singles ala Davis Cup,

Im still pissed that the doubles is worth double points. I understand it makes great TV, but I sense another situation where we win 3 singles by miles, lose one singles after having darts to win, and then lose the doubles and having a spud do a Barrie Bates and take out 116 after Nicholson misses more darts for the match and Whitlock Whitlocks...

Anyway, for those that dont get to click the link, the most likely quarter final lineups

ENGLAND v GERMANY (shame there isnt reverse singles which kills any chance of 4-1 again)
SCOTLAND v WALES (like rugby, except Scotland are actually good and likeable)
AUSTRALIA v BELGIUM (Nicholson gets to get mad at Dana again, and frau gets to post more pics of Ms Huybrechts)
NETHERLANDS v N.IRELAND (nothing relevant about this match

Thats what I thought, but since I rarely access 2+2 from an actual computer compared to the mobile site I hadnt noticed it during the tournament.

Go back 2 months (so taking out the Players and World Championships) and i'm 99% certain Painter was higher ranked than Hamilton.

Kevin Painter is simply a better darts player than Andy Hamilton.

Do you think Painter is a favorite to end above Hamilton in the Premier League?

I think the biggest difference between Andy Hamilton and Simon Whitlock (when ALL Whitlock did was make the final of the World Champs) is that Andy Hamilton doesnt really have a massive point of difference compared to others like him.

Whitlock is an Aussie which is an expanding market for Hearn and the PDC. Darts was slowly becoming more popular here rather then a random midnight replay of a tournament from 2 years ago, the PDC Champs I think were shown live here for the first time (at least the final was) and Fox over here eventually showed every dart of the Premier League and all the other majors except the Grand Slam live. Combined with a fairly iconic beard he definately makes just as much sense as someone like Barney as being a point of interest.

Hamilton on the other hand just strikes me as another Englishmen, and really isnt that different between him and any of

- Jenkins
- Painter
- Ovens
- Newton
- Walsh
- Jones

etc... While Im sure 64 and the other Brits have personal views of Southerners, Northerners and the rest, to me they are all the same...

Definately agree that its fortunate that thanks to running good at the right time he gets more exposure and thus $$$

----------------

FWIW the seedings for the World Champs were based on rankings on 28th November that year, which was before the Players Championships

Hamilton was ranked 17th
Painter was ranked 22nd

I'm very surprised Hamilton was ranked above Painter pre the Players.

(though I have heard Hamilton never misses a tournament, heard his stats a while back when they referred to him as the anti-Barney wrt playing the circuit)

Anything can happen in the Premier League due to the format.

On our ability alone, do people really think Hamilton is superior to Painter?

I'd say Newton was a favourite to get in the PL over either of those two before the worlds - but then he played like **** and acted like a tool and that put paid to that.

So do I. For some reason almost any International sport I find far more exciting then individual matches, such as Davis Cup tennis over Slams (at least when we were in the World Group from when I was back in High School fml) as well as random World Cup football matches over random UCL matches...

Sure $20?

Also looking to take action on the field vs England (England really shouldnt **** this up with Lewis and Power) and Australia vs anyone except England of course...

Also, when push comes to shove, Whitlock vs Anderson to finish higher in the Premier League?

question now is whether he takes the pdc tour card that lakeside semi-finalists get. if he's going to take a shot it'd need to be sooner rather than later. harms might, but probably won't. i'd like to see kist move over if he beats norris (which he should), and hankey would be money if he beats atkins
