Think the point is that you have three darts at a double if you return on 36 more often than if you return on 18

with 3 darts yeah, I agree. 2 darts left it seems optimal, no? Hit the fat 19 for bull vs. fat 15 leaving 54 and no out.

Just guessing here, but treble 15 looks like kind of an awkward shot, whereas treble 19 is well-practiced and in rhythm. It'd be interesting to see some stats on it though.
