So, what does this draft even mean?
Courtesy of dictionary.com, "the good" means:
Quote:
47. the good,
a. the ideal of goodness or morality.
b. good things or persons collectively.
Essentially, you're building a world where you want to emphasize, maximize, and figurehead people, items, things, events, etc. where this definition fits. Imagine you have a fresh world, and you have 8 (or 10, depending on rounds) deities in a way. These are not "gods" in the mythological sense, but rather in the philosophic sense. Whatever brings utopia basically is the win.
Are we going to stress a winner?
Absolutely not. That said, I imagine there will be banter over how good something is. As in, if you stress "penguins", how much happier/moralistically advanced/good is that society? Clearly there are many objects or things that may work very well with another - but there are also some things that probably should not be paired!
If someone wants there to be an actual winner, at the conclusion of the draft I'll make a top 5 and bottom 5 worlds, projecting a society/framework of civilization according to the best definition I can fathom - which is, where would I most like to live?
Although this is open-ended, there are some rules!
1. A writeup for each pick is essential. If you do not make a writeup, you cannot pick. There will only be
7 rounds, each writeup is pretty vital to your world. Pictures, charts, stats - all these things are fantastic and optional, too.
2. I'm going to implement a simple 24hr. time limit on each pick in the 1st round. Similar to other drafts though, if you ARE online when it's your turn, it is highly recommended you make a pick. The 2nd round+ will revert to a 12hr time limit.
3. If a rule is not explained fully or there is some debate, my word is final.
4. Intangible things are not draftable. For those of you who need further explanation, "love" is fantastic. The idea behind love in any society would most likely promote "the good". But, you can't draft it. That said, "events" ARE draftable.
5. All modern and historical people are draftable. Fictional beings are draftable on the tangible scale. Meaning, Jesus is allowable; God in the Judeo-Christian sense is not.
6. If you draft an object - one of the examples from the waitlist thread was Vodka - this does not mean no other society will have vodka. However, the idea of vodka, and therefore the feelings/ideology behind that, would only be attained by your society.
7. Since this is a very deep draft, simple snake draft works out fine. Draft order will obviously be randomized.
8. There will likely be 25 worlds, although I wouldn't mind pushing it to 30 if there is a ton of interest. Co-owners are encouraged, too.
