Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I kinda co-sign, but there is something to be said for an "it" factor to star power that some guys just have, and that's not about technical skills.

I think this is probably correct for the 2+2 demographic but there is still a massive market for wrestling amongst kids who don't care about wrestling ability (and are thus also less interested in mma)

I watched a Rock video earlier with this crack on Lilian Garcia: "Her last job was at a sperm bank. She got fired for drinking on the job." :-O

Love it this late. I honestly thought he'd go much earlier and then I'd probably hate it. But 50 picks in? Sweet.

A lot of these picks have recency bias to them.

Jeff Hardy's not a terrible pick, but I can think of someone else who is very similar and has worked with Hardy a lot that I'd take over him in a heartbeat. Still just seems like a little bit of a reach.

If it's who I think, it's someone I really want (but no chance in hell it happens).

Not surprising to me...for me it's hard to take a guy I never saw wrestle once over guys who I've seen wrestle hundreds of times

I really wouldn't even have thought twice if Hardy went ahead of RVD and you took RVD in the first round. He's just as entertaining and has proven he can wrestle in PPV Main Events.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

For me it's both recency and personal bias. I've watched a fair number of matches with some of the 70s guys, and I just don't find it nearly as entertaining.

There is nothing wrong with recency bias. Things get better as times advance.

Also guys in the 1960s didn't backflip off ladders through two tables.

Don't get me wrong, I love backflips off ladders through tables ... but I sometimes miss the days when two guys didn't need any of that to tell a hell of a story in the ring.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I think there's a ton of people who do what Hardy does a lot better than Hardy, and actually show up to work. He's kindof like Rey, in that he's unique in the WWE because there's only room for one of him in the WWE, but that when you've got the world of wrestling available to you, he's not that special.

I also love the Vince/Goldberg pairing. Goldberg's lack of mic skills won't be exposed because Vince is so awesome on the mic.
