Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Yeah, Piper's probably the number one guy who could have translated to the mid/late 90's without any sort of change in character (and I guess he was around the WWF at various points during that time).

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I mean Piper with Y2J is obv nice but it seems like you should be able to get him in r3 really.

Actually I overlooked the announcing angle. Wasn't going to bring it up before but good commentary really does add value to promotions and Piper does give you that too without having to draft someone else later on.

But i still think its too early when there are many career main eventers still on the board

Unless I missed the pick, you guys are missing out on huge value as of right now.

Love the last couple of picks though, interesting to read about the old schoolers

The only thing I know about Thesz is that in the video games, Austin's tackle and punches move was called Lou Thesz Punches.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Damn so mad I went to sleep the other night and missed my chance to be in this

Curt Hennig and Ted Dibiase are probably my fav. picks so far, tremendous value imo. They were both so underrated and in the shadow of hulkamania in their prime.

These 2nd round picks will def. be more interesting then the 1st round picks to see who gets paired with eachother in presumably the "main fued" for each promotion.

Theres one more guy cut from the same cloth as Hennig/Dibiase I can think of that some ppl may over look, if anyone wants the name pm me.

I have our pick once Iggy shows up. If he takes our #1 guy, I'll have to re-do the write-up so it will be a little longer

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Dibiase and Piper were two guys I was hoping would slip to me in the 2nd round.

Dibiase was originally booked to win the WWF title at WrestleMania IV. If he had won it, his legacy would be a lot different.

I keep trying to imagine how the spring/summer of 1988 would have gone had that happened. It just seems odd not to think of the Megapowers angle in full swing.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Just went to lunch. I'm back now and amazingly both the other guy I actually wanted who I thought about taking over RVD and the other big "trade value" guy are both still available. I know who I'm going to pick, but I'm not going to give any more clues until I get a basic writeup done.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I'm really surprised one guy hasn't gone yet, but I have no idea if it's the same one other people are referring to.

Not sure about the Andre the Giant pick. Seems like he benefited mostly from being the first monster huge guy rather than having actual ability. What makes him better than UNDRAFTED HUGE GUY?

He's way more athletic than you'd know if you only saw him during his heel run in the late 80s.

Spoiler:
I assumed this is who people were talking about when they said "I can't believe one guy still hasn't gone!!!" I think its good value pick from this spot, but he clearly has limitations, and in 2009 his size isn't as impressive as it was in the 70s/80s.

Its 2009. You get the wrestler at any age you choose. Our federations will run for 30 years(until 2039). So wrestlers will short careers are penalized a bit.
