As for that Inoki guy, wtf? I can think of a few other things I'd rather do after winning a fight.

All wrestlers will be entering the beginning of their prime, no matter what era they were from. If they were popular in 1972, it is assumed that they will be just as popular now. The same goes with strength and ability.
FWIW, I didn't read this criterion from the OP until just now. If this is the case, then Bruno Sammartino's obviously an absolute steal. I was thinking more how with him being 5'11" and still wrestling mostly a power game, it would be hard for modern-day fans to buy him as a main eventer, and that it would be similar to someone like George Mikan not going in the 1st round in a basketball draft since he didn't have the overall talent to compete with the NBA elite of today even if he was a mega-star at the time.

Sammartino should have been top 10 no question whatsoever in my mind.

That's exactly what I was thinking but apparently the criteria for the draft makes it moot.

I have a feeling Wrane and I are going to put together an organization we'd enjoy immensely but may not make the most money. Oh well.

I already said give us some time because we hadn't discussed rd 2 at all. Pick is coming shortly.

It's like Bruno Sammartino, but better!

With the 5th pick in the 2nd round, Scary_Tiger and MikeyPatriot select:

Spoiler:

Lou Thesz debuted in 1932 at the age of 16 and had his last match in 1990 in his 70's. He's credited with the invention of the german suplex, the Lou Thesz press, the STF, and the original powerbomb. Thesz was the youngest World Heavyweight Champion in history at the age of 21. He unified many of the existing World Titles into the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and was the first Undisputed Champion and also the first to bring his title to Japan and defend it there. A St. Louis home grown golden boy, he drew lots of crowds and money despite being "just" a wrestler, and will be the top face of our promotion putting on great main event matches.

- Six Time Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion
- Wrestling Observer's #2 Greatest Wrestler of All Time
- Undefeated as Champion from July 1948 to March 1956
- Only Wrestler Ever to Compete Across Seven Decades

Sammartino and Inoki are stellar, stellar picks.

I really love the old school vibe. Waiting for more international picks too.

This is where I really start to struggle aligning everything and judging promotions properly. I mean I'm sure once we adjust for inflation Thesz is great and all but its just so long ago.

If we keep going back far enough im sure we can make a case for Alexander T Great in this draft

He was Hogan's primary rival through the mid-80s. Plus, think of all the other things you can do with him. Piper's Pit. Announcing. He's one of the top five entertainers drafted IMO. I wish he had peaked in the Attitude Era, he'd have been awesome.
