Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Man setting the music to open in a tab really does enhance the whole experience

Pretty big RVD mark myself, mostly cause hes likely he's stoned 90% of the time and seems like a really chill dude in general. The way this is going, no way he would've fallen to you in the 2nd. Good pick if you like him that much, although there's a few guys I'd have taken before him at this point.

If he could have been the face of a company he would have been.

I don't think the WWE misused him as much as he couldn't really pull his weight as a draw. I think he was probably in my top five of favorite guys to watch, but he was picked too early.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Probably true. I'm a pretty big RVD mark and I unfortunately wasn't watching when he was on his main event run. The brief time I remember seeing him in WWE, I remember thinking he was misused.

Also, I agree he's probably a reach at this point for the reasons you listed.

The more I think about it, the more being in the second half of round 1 really is a disadvantage. I'm thinking, "Who's left do I actually think could carry a company?" Not too many.

Definitely a great wrestler but really not appealing to the general public.

Love RVD though he's always been kind of a spot-monkey.

Definitely. This is almost always the case with these drafts. It usually last 7ish picks. I think Sting might have been the last guy left that could carry a company. We didn't really love him but had to take him because of this.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Wow. WOW. Mutha. ****a. He was the guy I was targeting the whole time. Gawk. GAWK. GAWK!!!!!!!

Such a fun guy to watch eh? For a big man he was so athletic and would put his body in pain for the sake of entertainment. Such a stud. I was going to start my writeup by saying "Make thumbs up with you hands. Make a Y like in YMCA. Pull it in as to say "me" three times." Say it with me. ROB. VAN. DAM.

Very nice pick imo. Sigh.

I have RVD around Punk level actually. I've seen a lot of him and I never liked all his stupid flipping and rolling.

I think that's the "Wrestling With Shadows" documentary ... Bret and Vince agreed to do it in early 1997 if I recall correctly. It just so happened it was still being done when the screwjob took place.

I'm updated through Feb. of this year.

Is there any way to create your own fed out of thin air? I mean, I could prob. get some cheats and just sign whoever I want but it tilts the **** out of me trying to book WWE with a million workers. Too much to keep track of.

I need a guy who has drawing power, can work good matches/feuds consistently and has at least passable (and preferrably above average) mic skills as my top guy. There's a couple guys left who can pass that test at this point but the number is small.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I love high flying stuff, but not crap like the "rolling thunder" or doing flips before a shoulder into the midsection. Many undrafted flyers are some of my favorites.

If all that high-flying ninja stuff also tells a good story, I'm all for it.

I can think of a high flyer I would much rather have than RVD. There's still a top five name left in wrestling history imo.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

RVD is a pretty big reach, but I still would have had him above CM Punk for longevity, though I think RVD can be kind of sloppy and CM Punk is the better worker.

i always liked RVD for his work in action movies. that alone makes him 1000000000x better than CMPunk

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

There's an insane number of guys I'd like to match up with Flair, but one far exceeds the rest. Too bad I probably don't have the trade bait to go get him.

I just started making a list of undrafted guys. Now I REALLY wish I was in this. Damn it.

I always start a save file as WWE, find the small company in terms of image, make a new file as them, fire almost everyone they have and start hiring. I think I once had a women's fed national but the problem is they'll get crushed in fed wars since they have no skill compared to the other feds.
