nahhh, Punk is good. he's got a 5-star match to his name which helped saved his promotion (roh). he is a non-wwe guy who is succeeding in wwe. that's not too common nowadays.

Or we could have an elimination-style thing where eliminated teams get to vote on the remainders, but I could see that being clouded by in-draft discussion and people getting tilted over picks getting taken, etc.

Anyway, as for Foley, he's awesome. I'm not denying that. But there are definitely a bunch of guys (Macho Man being one) that are better at that spot. My criticism of the pick isn't really a criticism of Foley. It's just that there are better guys to take there, imo of course.

LOL "any diehard wrestling fans". I don't follow anymore, but I was "diehard" for a long time. Again, I understand why you took Punk and why you like him and whatever, but it's an awful pick considering the criteria of the draft, his availability, etc.
what criteria are you refering to. i must have missed it.

My bad Dynasty, just got home. I probably wanted to make a deal as I wanted Foley and knew he wouldn't make it to 14.

We can't trade actual drafted wrestlers can we?

i do think there's an age bias in judging wrestling...

but i do think hulk/warrior/savage/andre was bigger than stone cold/rock/foley/vince period. i'm inclined to say much bigger in terms of popularity ........ i think the later period was much "better" FWIW

some of the old stuff where people half "believed" it was real was great, but it was territories in those days. kayfabe didn't last long with vince's national expansion.

It's also unfair to compare the mid 90's with a PPV machine, weekly cable show, etc. to mid-80's when the groundwork for all that stuff was being set.

So others know, I offered a trade to TheUntouchable/mjw0586 which would have sent my first three picks to them in exchange for their first three picks. mjw0586 essentially turned the deal down because TheUntouchable was out of contact.

I actually thought the #9 pick (which I had) was a lousy spot. Many early picks were obvious because they were the big draws of different era (80s- Hogan, Flair; early/mid 90's- Hart, Michaels, Undertaker; late 90s- Austin, Rock). So, I figured the drop from #7 to #8 was the biggest drop in the first round. The McMahon pick surprised me, so my top 7 ended up getting finished off at pick #8.

Mikey, I think that you're making this a little too complicated. There so many things that go on that even a die-hard fan can't predict how a 'newly-drafted' fed might go. So much variences and variables and behind-the-scene systems that I think it might be best for the purpose of this draft to just have fun. Now I don't mean don't discuss in-depth about something because that's what makes it fun anyways but that critizing someone's system might be unneccessary especially considering we're 1-guy in.

CM Punk imo is a spew because he probably could have gotten him in the third round and defs. in the second. However to say there might be a couple wrestlers (at best) better than Foley (also when a lot of other people expressed interest in Foley) I think it's hard to bash it when we don't even know how Assani wants to run his fed. He might want to go some hardcore ECW style.

Plus Foley is always capable of being an awesome commisioner....basically, there's no way you can **** up with Mick Foley

Yeah, I'm gonna shut up for now barring LOLCMPUNK picks. Foley's probably not as bad as I initially thought. Hope our pick drops to us though!

Punk is such a reach there.

There is one undrafted that is pissing me off at this point and picking Punk specifically over him just seems really ******ed.

As has been stated before. Even if CM Punk is the greatest technical wrestler of all time, and the best on the mic, and blah blah. He's still a huge reach because you could have picked someone else in his spot and gotten him later.
