Taking CM Punk here would be like taking Andew Bynum this high in an NBA draft and no one would be stupid enough to do that.

Plus, when I was like 10 I met him in an airport. I was afraid to go up to him, but luckily my older brother was with me

Makes me want to get to a live PPV just to see it in person. Only live WWF event I ever went to was X-8 in Toronto, and that was Taker's ****ty biker days.
Definitely one of the best entrances ever. The OHHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSS and Lawler bagging on Paul Bearer is so classic.

undertaker also had the biker gimmick too which was probably one of the worst in the attitude era.

But, Paul Bearer + Undertaker was awesome.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Number of title reigns is stupid anyways. Savage held the WWF Championship for 520 days in his career. Punk has held the WHC for 160 days. Tack on an IC title reign that lasted over a year and ended in one of the greatest matches in history at the biggest show in wrestling history and you have sick value in this spot.

I assume Untouchable/mjw are going to be picking soon as they've both been very active tonight?

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I've always wondered how much more dangerous flaming table spots are than normal table spots if you go through back first like normal. Yeah, there's like a 5% chance you might burst into flames, but it doesn't seem like it would hurt anymore or something.

Face first is another story though, ugh.

You might want to stop criticizing people's picks if you can't handle the criticism yourself.

When Punk is in the WON Hall of Fame and listed on Meltzer's top 100 wrestlers list (at 50), then we can talk.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Our board just got blown up. Untouchable is the decision guy and we really didn't talk about anyone else, so I'm not going to pick. He said he'd be back around 11 (so an hour). I'll be sure to talk to him asap and have some names so he can make a quick decision.

Yes, the general population often has no clue when evaluating players(example: Jeter's defense). However, 2p2 is much smarter than the general population. If the #11, #13, #14, and #18 picks all say "I was taking Foley if he was there" then its tough to call him a reach imo.

Also, you're confusing "overrated" with "reach." Maybe you think we're overrating him. However, he definitely wasn't a reach since I couldn't have dropped down and still got him.

Theres a mid/late 90s bias because that was the most popular time in wrestling; Its not just some arbitrarily selected years. And Foley was a 2x match of the year winner during that era.

Yeah, I was strongly considering Macho Man at 10, he was even great when he was in the Wolfpack

The Vince pick was great btw and I actually kinda thought HHH would sink a lot lower than that.

2p2 is much smarter than the general population, but, and no offense to anyone ITT, I don't think that's the case in this draft. We're certainly smarkier than your average pro wrestling fan, but the kind of intense fandom that people have for baseball, basketball, MMA, etc. just isn't here.

And the mid 90's bias is pretty obviously a part of the majority of us being born between 1980 and 1989. I don't see how you can dispute that.

I know it's not, but it seems like Piper is melting down and shooting right now live on RAW.

Hey, our pick just showed up!

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

IMO, dnky taking CM Punk is akin to someone taking Fugazi in round one of a Rock Band Draft Thread and telling everyone how smart he is even though they would have been available forever.
