I've mentioned this before ITT, but one thing I really hate is how little the IC belt means now. It used to be so huge. The matches were almost always better than the championship matches and it was the 2nd most important belt in the industry for some time.

No belt in WWE means anything. 17 World Title (WWE + WHC) switches in one year kills off any significance.

Wait, there's two "world titles" now? That's shameful

Man I suck for just finding this thread...spent the last 90 minutes skimming through it.

Are rosters finalized? Because there were a few guys I was surprised never went, and would like to chime in. Thx.

There has been since I think late 2002. It's ******ed and one of the many reasons I stopped watching.

Three if you want to count the ECW belt, so in reality, two.

I don't understand why the WWE doesn't go to an NWA-style "world champ" with its brands ... have one world champ defend that belt on all three shows periodically. Then have the champion of each brand, and maybe one secondary belt in each brand. That would work better.

Did every Nitro back then end with garbage and beer pelting the ring? That was so awesome.

WWE doesn't even count it as a world title since they had their title shot battle royale with only people who've never won a world title with former (WW)ECW champs in it.

I think the US Title has meant something this year. It's changed hands 3 times, and has definitely elevated Kofi Kingston and Miz. Christian has held the ECW title for 183 days this year, and hopefully gets a shot at a bigger belt when he leaves ECW.

Yep. It's WCW all over again.

Would wrestling be better w/o all the internet dirtsheets? Maybe they wouldn't do all these ******ed title changes/swerves if it weren't for everything getting leaked.

Good question. Very possible.

Frankly, WWE/TNA/ROH/whoever should pay no attention to the dirt sheets. So what if some people "know" what will happen. If you tell the story believably and with passion, no one's gonna sit there and say, "Meh, I knew the ending anyway." They're gonna say, "I knew the ending, but man, it was still ****ing awesome!"

OK, some guys I was surprised to see passed over:

Hercules Hernandez and Billy Jack Haynes. They had a big feud leading up to Wrestlemania III over "who had the best full nelson." Haynes nearly defeated the Macho Man for the Intercontinental Title (if it weren't for the efforts of referee turned heel Danny Davis) and Hercules won an important Battle Royal on Saturday Night's Main Event which featured Hogan and Andre prior to Wrestlemania III.

Who can't forget two of the greatest jobbers of all time?

Spoiler:
Barry Horowitz

and Leapin' Lanny Poffo

The poems dissing his opponent and sending out frisbees was pure genius

Also, the "original gangster" New Jack merits consideration

That being said, would CM Punk have the same appeal if he wrestled in 1970? This is virtually a theoretical mind****.
As posted earlier in this thread, the theory that "old-timers" didn't wrestle as often as they do today is a myth. The headliners wrestled 300+ times a year back in the 70s and 80s and today's WWE stars don't wrestle anywhere close to 300 times per year.

True story: I stopped watching WWE the day they gave that second belt to HHH. That was the last episode of Raw/Smackdown that I watched in full.
