Eddie Gilbert was one of the guys I was thinking of when I said there were a few steals left.

Am I the only one that thinks the whole angle of wrestlers of being signed to a specific show is ****ing ******ed?

It was pretty much necessary in 2002. It's a good reason also why I stopped watching wrestling in 2002. I could ignore WCW from 98-01.

Is Naruki Doi eligible? His only work in TNA was part of a "World Cup".

Yeah, I'm thinking a lot of these late picks are iffy. Never even heard of Naruki Doi and I'm a pretty big wrestling fan. Same thing re: Bob Roop.

way too many wrestlers in one orginization at that point. you would only have 10 main guys that would be on every show. you create the brand extention, you can show twice the talent that your paying for.

I figured that was the reason, but I don't really understand the logic. You still have the same number of wrestlers and the same number of shows. Splitting them up doesn't change any of the math. I'm sure there can be a reason, but I don't understand it right now.

while it is thru that you have the same number of wrestlers in theory, the fact is that you would have the same 5 guys main eventing both shows(ie HHH, Stone Cold, Undertaker....ect). by splitting the roster in half your able to have new guys get to the top of the card much faster.

I mean, before RAW, they had the same 4-5 guys main eventing Superstars every Saturday and there was no problem developing new, young stars. It seems really lazy.

of course it is. im not gonna argue that fact.

but in theory the brand extension was the most optimal thing the wwe could have done after buying wcw. there is a reason that popularity of wrestling declined after wcw went under. there was no competition, and wwe got lazy.

the way they could pretend there was competition was to split the brands.

that is reason #2 why they split raw and smackdown. competition is essential.

Why would Bob Roop not be eligible? He was a big star in Georgia Championship wrestling and in Florida Championship Wrestling for years in the late 60s and 70s. He was also the NWA's enforcer and was strongly considered for the belt at one point.

TBH if you're saying that you're a big wrestling fan, then I'd assume that you'd be familiar with RoH, and through that you'd have been familiar with Dragon's Gate for Doi. Even with that, he did wrestle in TNA for team Japan in a world X cup, don't see why that wouldn't count.
