Two guys I've never heard of. That takes some doing.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Gorgeous George's Wikipedia article is a pretty good sell, it sounds like he was legitimately the first big star in wrestling history.

I don't know who Art Barr is either, just that he had a wrestling observer newsletter for best heel or something which instantly makes him at least decent value at this point.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Never heard of Barr either. Pretty cool anecdote from his wiki:

Quote:
According to Guerrero, when they began tagging he first used the Frog Splash as the "Jackknife Splash". Barr took a liking to the move, began using it regularly and adopted it as his finisher. 2 Cold Scorpio commented to Barr that he "Looked like a Frog", thus leading Barr to name his move the Frog Splash. As a tribute to his friend, Eddie Guerrero adopted Barr's trademark Frog Splash as his finishing maneuver.[5] It has since become a trademark move of several wrestlers in Mexico and the United States.[6] Chris Jericho, who was also close to Barr at the time of his death, would, when performing in WCW in the late nineties, occasionally accuse performer Lenny Lane of stealing Jericho's Loverboy tapes in reference to a personal joke between himself and Barr.

I would highly recommend watching AAAs When Worlds Collide show from 94. One of the best shows ever, and there is a classic match with Los Gringos Locos(Eddie and Barr) against Octagon and El Hijo del Santo. One of the very few 5* matches from Mexico that Meltzer has ever given (and it may be the only 5* match, though he may have given one to a mistico match in the past couple of years)

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

grunching after simply looking at the spreadsheet.

Goldberg dropped way too far imo.

I really like the Mick Foley pick. Had like 5 different characters, long career, exciting fights, entertaining dude.

The Rock>Stone Cold IMO but probably an easy 1,2.

I love Shawn Michaels, but I think Hogan should have been a lock on 3.

Really surprised to see Big show/Kane so low... I mean Christian/Regal/Sid... before Kane?

Also, This is 2p2, so I expected to see the godfather gone within the first 100 picks.

honestly, with Rock, Austin, HBK, Flair, and Hogan it all comes down to personal preference for the no1 pick. In the general scheme of things, there isn't a massive amount of difference between them

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Man the worst part about the Bushwhackers getting blocked is that theres like no one on that roster that I would reasonably trade for.

Ken Shamrock? ******ed POS. I"M IN THE ZONEEEEEE!!!!! wtf is that stupid crap
Yoko- fat lardass that got over because of racism
Bishof- total cancer
Janetty? - please

oh well. that just means one more pick to go crazy with and piss off the 80s loving crowd even more.
