Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Ministry of Darkness Undertaker might be the best heel ever and part of the most awesome story lines. I couldnt have been more addicted to wrestling when that + the corporation was around.

Bret Hart isnt uber charasmatic but he can put on a good match with absolutely anyone, solid pick.

Yeah the Ministry leading up to the Corporate Ministry was the height of me watching the WWF. That **** was awesome.

FWIW, we were taking Undertaker if he fell to 8.

Good point. Kicking myself now for not drafting Batista.

Saying Ric Flair can't carry a show is absurdly wrong

That is not what I'm saying. My point is that at #5 there were a number of people available better equipped to do so. Not a large number fwiw.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

damn too many drafts going for me to follow. used to follow wrestling diehard, I was onto the ECW very early... I was big into tape trading/selling while I was in middle school/high school... wish my site was still on angelfire.....

any of you guys ever play TNM? I killed a lot of time creating promotions and running cards.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

If I was hiring Vince, I would make him the GM in reality and on stage. He would obviously play the heel and run most of the shows, but I would be a face and maybe once a month I would come out and announce a crowd pleasing match.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

While Vince gets a lot of credit for what the WWE has been, he's also responsible for what it is now. We have the benefit of using his blueprint without his cronyism and big man fetish.

Significantly overrated to the point that he's a liability imo.

Picks are pretty solid across the board thus far. You can certainly argue between the top few guys but its definetely pretty close.

Would adding three more teams really be that terrible? Especially when 4 of the 6 have history's of starting and finish drafts.

I think the next four or five picks should be pretty obvious because of their drawing power.

It's just, yeah as a bookie VKM is absoluety the best. Great! But I just don't know how valuable he is as a wrestler. Sure he's good/excellent with the mic but esstienally he's writing his own script anyways. He makes up his epic battles and drags them on and on. Considering that anyone could be such a 'bad guy' or 'heel' in wrestling terms with a decent charismatic approach, how valuable is that? I feel there are so much pure talent out there that VKM might be just a 'writer'. Not that there's anything wrong with it though.

I could be completely off here but hey! let's argue.
Disagree with the bolded. I feel that many people could've played the austin role but few could've pulled off the McMahon role in their storyline.

Not sure I completely understand what you're trying to say here.

If VKM wrestles in our federation it'd be a very rare thing, say once a year or so. He's proven while he's nothing amazing in the ring he can definitely put out a good match when called upon. Wrestling is about third or fourth in the pecking order of things we'd want him to do though.

Something like this sounds like what we're likely to do. Vince the on-screen character is great and obviously he's one of the great heels of all time. Add to that his booking sills and ability to engage in feuds with big faces and that's probably our goal with him.

The same Vince that still has Raw as the second highest cable show behind MNF? I realize most/all argue that the quality of the product has dropped which is ldo but he still brings in tons of money and crushes ratings.

Dynasty PMed me not too long ago, he was looking for trade offers but had thought he settled on someone. I imagine he's doing his write-up.

But wasn't that because McMahon had the gimmick of being the head honcho? I mean he could go out and make crazy fights and get the crowd all fired up. He could go out and fire somebody on the spot. He had all that power and no one else had. Wasn't that part of why no one else could pull it off? Not because of the personality neccessary but position?

His booking skills are great ldo, but the ability to engage in feuds is kind of the same as the booking thing. In a sense, he booked himself to greatness.

I'll be around all night if anyone needs to send their picks. We pick at 14 (and have our target) so anyone in front of us is safe.
