agree. jr dident look that great when the pick was made, but the picks later really made up for it, and you guys have a really good roster.

Those both seem like good picks. I'm not that familiar with MVP, but my friends that still watch it praise him pretty highly.

MVP is a good pick, but his "ballin" move is possibly the most tilting wrestling move of all time.

Cena's Five Knuckle Shuffle is worse than all of those. He doesn't even hit in any way most of the time.

Round 7 Picks 180 and 181: Lou Albano and Freddie Blassie

Gives me some great managers to work with some of my heels who aren't great on the mic. Blassie was also a great wrestler himself(Albano was a wrestler too but only had limited success so I'll be using him mostly as a manager). In fact, I'd argue that Blassie has enough value as a wrestler or as a manager to go this round, so when you combine the two its great value.

Lou Albano

from wiki:

Quote:
Louis Vincent Albano (July 29, 1933 – October 14, 2009) was an American professional wrestler, manager and actor.
The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer described Albano as "one of the most important figures when it comes to the growth and popularity of pro wrestling in the Northeast." Throughout his 42-year career, Albano guided 15 different tag teams and four singles competitors to championship gold.

A unique showman, with an elongated beard, rubber band facial piercings, and loud outfits, Albano was the forefather of the 1980s Rock 'n' Wrestling Connection. Collaborating with Cyndi Lauper, Albano helped usher in wrestling's crossover success with a mainstream audience. Capitalizing on his success, he later ventured into Hollywood with various television, film, and music projects.
1974 PWI Manger of the Year
1981 PWI Manager of the Year
1986 PWI Manager of the Year
1981 WON Best on Interviews
Inducted into WWE HOF in 1996
Inducted into Pro Wrestling HOF in 2009

Freddie Blassie

Wrestlingperspective.com named Blassie as their #6 wrestler of all time. They said of him:

Quote:
6. FRED BLASSIE

Professional Success: Bleached blonde blowhard who has wowed them in both the U.S. and Japan. Known as a heel that would do anything to win, his interview style was the best in the history of the game.

Importance to History: Made his mark as both a wrestler and manager. Fondly remembered in Japan where he boasted he caused a number of heart attacks because of his style.

How Good in the Ring: A cross between Rogers and Kowalski in style, and one of the great ring psychologists.

Drawing Power: Filled arenas in the Atlanta area in the late Fifties, then went on to become the leading draw in California’s WWA during the Sixties. His series against Bruno Sammartino in 1964 helped establish the WWWF. In Japan he had the lure of Dracula – frightening, but they paid by the droves, especially in his series with Rikidozan.

Mainstream Status: A frequent television guest, whether sitcom or a talk show, he is also a pop-culture icon, with his record, “Pencil Neck Geek,” a phrase he made into a mainstream quip.

Phantom Comment: Beats everyone on interviews, but Rogers got there first.

from wiki:

Quote:
Frederick "Fred" Blassie (February 8, 1918 – June 2, 2003), better known as "Classy" Freddie Blassie, was an American professional wrestling villain and manager born in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a master at antagonizing the crowd, and inspired legendary animosity. He was also a one-time NWA Georgia Heavyweight Champion (later known as the NWA Wildside Heavyweight Championship). And is also a 1 time NWA Southern Florida Champion.

Roster so far:

Mick Foley
Vader
Bruiser Brody
Bam Bam Bigelow
The Great Muta
Johnny Valentine
Dory Funk Jr.
Captain Lou Albano
Freddie Blassie

I like my roster a lot so far, but I really do need to get some solid faces in my next few picks.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I'll take Tommy Dreamer as my first pick:

He is is an American professional wrestler better known by his ring name, Tommy Dreamer. He is currently under contract to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and wrestling on the ECW brand. While with WWE, Laughlin has been a fourteen-time Hardcore Champion and a one-time ECW Champion. Throughout his career, Laughlin is a two-time world champion, winning the ECW Championship twice, and is the only man in history to have held that title in both the original ECW and in WWE.

In addition to his current role, Dreamer is known for the time he spent in the Philadelphia based Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) promotion, of which he has been called the "heart and soul". Though he only held the ECW World Heavyweight Championship once in his time with the company – for a grand total of about 30 minutes – he was regularly embroiled in the company's most visible angles on screen and involved in the booking, some of the business decisions, and, like a number of other ECW wrestlers, was part of the day to day operations of the company off screen.
