Ted Sr.'s main event prime in the WWF was from 1986-1991, during a time period where the WWE title went like this:
Hogan 4 Reigns ~1000 Days
Savage 1 Reign 371 Days
Warrior 1 Reign 293 Days
Sgt. Slaughter 1 Reign 64 Days
Undertaker 1 Reign 6 Days
Andre 1 Reign 0 Days
Six champions and nine reigns. Only guy that stands out is Sgt. Slaughter, The Great Khali of his day I suppose.
Compare that to the last six years, a time period where WWE's World Titles have reached Lesnar, Guerrero, JBL, Cena, Edge, Van Dam, Orton, Triple H, Hardy, Batista, Benoit, Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, King Booker, Undertaker, Khali, Punk, Jericho for a combined 18 different champions and 53 reigns.
Great point, the belt just didn't change hands often back in the day. I could remember the sequence listed above. Hogan, controversial loss to Andre, Andre stripped of the title(by selling it), Macho Man wins 4 matches at wrestlemania IV tournament with a finals victory over Dibiase. Hogan beat Savage at Wrestlemania V, Warrior beats Hogan Wresltemania VI, Slaughter beats Warrior at the Rumble, Hogan over Slaughter Wrestlemania VII.
I mean that just recaps like 3.5 years right there, its too hard to remember the exact sequence over the last 3.5 years.
