Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

It's funny how when you actually start looking for who you'd want to take, you can always find someone that seems like a huge steal. Just thought of someone a little while ago that I can't believe hasn't been taken yet. Will definitely grab him if he falls to me in the 8th round. If he gets taken before my turn though, I'd consider trying to trade down if someone wanted to offer their 9th and 10th round picks in exchange for my 8th rounders. Would really like the opportunity to take more than 15 wrestlers if possible as there are some people I want that I don't think there is much interest for from others.

I think the roster I'd be least likely to tune into is the Kevin Nash roster, as much as I like Mr. Perfect. Runner-up is the McMahon roster. You can't use two of your first seven picks on primarily non-wrestling personalities and have Goldberg be your number one guy. JBL/Big Show for the main event after that? Yuck.

The roster that is going to be really awesome for ten years or whatever is the Rock, Owen Hart, Dean Malenko roster. HBK one will be hilarious also.

defeinitely agree about your roster. IMO a fed doesn't have to make explosive amounts of money to be successful. Being able to be profitable for a good while is a much harder thing to do, and its a fed that will always be able to get talent when other feds go bust because wrestlers will know that their payments will be on time and on point

Rikishi had maybe one or two main events on PPVs, and was part of a crowded house when he was in them, so he wasn't really the draw. He's not main event talent, he's a solid mid carder who had a decent run with his gimmick and has been an jobber or low-card guy for the majority of the rest of his career

The knock on him is that he's slow and frequently boring as hell in the ring. Guys like Big Show and Rikishi are going to slip relative to how far they've been pushed when they put you to sleep with a bear hug.

I had him on my list and brought him up during our picks this round, but the two matches I watched on YouTube, which are generally going to be amongst the best matches of a guy's career were just terrible efforts. A big reason he was able to get over in the attitude era was because of everything he did that didn't involve wrestling.

Yeah, I remember this being discussed a while ago, I think it was dumb, but I guess if they didn't allow other guys previously they shouldn't allow you now? Meh.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Adrian Adonis was great early in his career and one of my favorites. His New Yorker/biker gimmick was a bit badass.

I think he used this as his entrance music in Southwest Championship Wrestling. It was a decent fit for him.

Boy From New York City

When Southwest was making a minor push to go national in 1982, they held an "Undisupted World Heavyweight Champion" tournament. Adonis was the winner (that's the belt he's holding below). He was also AWA tag team champion with Jesse Ventura and WWF tag team champion with Dick Murdoch. In his earlier run with the WWF, he main evented regularly with Bob Backlund.

This is little funny.
Dick Murdoch visits Adrian Adonis in New York

And he was skinny, real skinny, early in his career. His weight gain was gradual for a while and then exploded at the end of his career.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I know there's 11 teams in front of me atm, but I'm going to be out of town until Saturday night and I don't really have a "list" to PM anyone as of now. Hopefully this heads up will buy me a little more time?

Don't really want to post this because I know nothing about Takas opponent in this match, but he seems sick.
