Devastating Wrestling Finishing Moves

I meant to go back and quote the post about the Torture Rack actually hurting as well, but I got lazy.

Whilst growing up, I tried just about every wrestling move on my little brother, and I (unintentionally) made him cry uncontrollably twice: when I finally pulled up on the Sharpshooter (as opposed to just crossing the legs) and when I applied the Rack. I didn't think that either of these would actually hurt, but they apparently did.

Obviously, if I had dropped him straight on his head/neck during a Tombstone, etc., I would have hurt him more. Fortunately, I was old enough to realize that.

If SE has room for it, we should do some polls: Which move is the most painful? Which is the most underrated?

Love the thread. Wish I was in on the draft.

Glad to see that people are liking what I'm doing with this draft so far.

One thing I actually forgot to mention with Lashley is that I've definitely got a bunch of guys who can bump around him and make him look a lot better in the ring than he actually is. RVD for instance can pretty much do all the leg-work in the match himself and will take some sick bumps on Lashley's power moves. I think they could have a really good feud with RVD as the underdog face and Lashley as the unstoppable heel. Sandman could work pretty good with him too, taking some big bumps before getting out the kendo sticks and tattooing Bobby with them.

Still very torn about my next pick...mjw hasn't been around all day...I'll make my decision within like ten minutes probably.

Rikishi's a pretty decent pick if you're feeling like you're thin on main eventers. I always felt like the WWE could have done a lot more with his heel run. They were actually taking his character in a new, interesting direction and then they decided to just have him get squashed by The Rock and he was forgotten.

I followed that all year while he was making them. Incredible series and it taught me a lot about guys who were popular well before I was born.

Yea the Rack and the figure-four definitely really hurt if you put em on. The rack just looks so stupid though.

On this note, doing moves on each other into a pool is fun for everyone.

I have experience feeling the pain of the torture rack. I also dished out a decent amount of pain giving someone a Texas Cloverleaf. Sharpshooter and Stone Cold Stunner were always my moves of choice though. And DDT ldo.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Don't think I like the Marc Mero pick that much, but I'm not sure because I really don't know what's available right now. I honestly would have had absolutely no idea who to pick if someone had taken Kidman or Lashley. I can only think of two more wrestlers that I really want on my roster, but they'd both be way too early right now. I could probably get them in the 10th round.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Yeah determining value at this point is nearly impossible. I have a list of a bunch of guys but couldn't possibly guess where they're going to. From a value standpoint I'm almost sure he's a slightly bad pick, but I think he's a pretty good addition to my roster nonetheless. It's closer to ok to make "mistakes" like this in the middle of the seventh then early on.

One thing I think my stable really has going for it is that every guy gives us like a minimum of 16-18ish good years.

btw, now that Rikishi has been picked, I can post this

One of the sickest matches ever. The truck pulling up to catch Rikishi's fall is pretty lol ******ed, but it's still a great stunt nonetheless.

This link's better. Has the match unedited without the cuts for time in the middle, without the scratch logo blurred, and without the Undertaker's theme changed for copyright reasons.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

awesome, thanks

Kurt Angle was my favorite wrestler at the time and I didn't think there was any chance they were gonna have him win. I remember being pretty happy when he won. It was so unexpected.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I'm looking over the spreadsheet and the Rikishi pick really looks like a steal to me. This guy is Main Eventing with Taker, Austin, Rock, HHH, and Angle and he's getting picked in the same round Shamrock, Taka, and Perry Saturn. There's no real knocks on him either. I don't know how he slipped.

Cannot believe Bischoff fell that far. He could easily have gone several rounds previously and most people wouldn't have considered it a reach. I'd have taken Bisch before Heyman for sure.

I think people were probably hesitant on Bischoff because he ran the WCW out of business, but in my opinion it wasn't all his fault. Vince was an unstoppable force.

Give Long some credit, he's been a manager, GM, and a referee, so I don't see why he's such a reach, though I'm assuming refs don't really matter here since there are only maybe 6 "name" refs I can think of.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Because he's not very good at any of those except for referee and referees are a dime a dozen. I mean, there have been what two managers taken so far? There's no way that Long's a Top 10 manager of all time, let alone top 3.
