Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I like Undertaker. His gimmick is really hilarious in the context of the current WWE. They're trying to go more realistic and make it less cartoonish, but they still have Undertaker's zombie gimmick being as over as anyone.

by the way, i'm thinking of one guy right now who'll go in the first and it'll definitely be too early, simply because he just got pushed waaaaay too much

I agree.

The Highway to Hell - Summerslam feud with Austin was gold, but outside of that, he hasn't headlined many PPVs. Wrestlemania 13 vs. Sid was probably the worst Wrestlemania main event ever (although that's not all Undertaker's fault, it was thrown together the last minute, I think.)

Always delivers in big matches, though.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Taker's a solid pick...he's one of very few wrestlers who doesn't need personality, his entrance/ability in the ring (one of the best big men workers in WWF history)/meer presence speak louder then words....Ministry of Darkness Taker was pretty damn freaky, his storylines were phenomenal

I must say, the Undertaker/Hogan/Flair 1991 Survivor Series is one of my all-time favorite matches

WRT Vince and him not being the owner:

Can't the owner just put Vince in charge of all decisions? That way, he still gets all his powers and abilities, and still has him.

Like the 'Taker pick

Undertaker is also, from what I've heard, a great "behind the scenes" guy....a real leader in the locker room. Great person to build around imo.

Dude, we get it, you know a lot about wrestling. So do a lot of people in the draft. I started watching literally when I was 4 years old. Side story that's kinda funny... my mom used to find me when I was 4/5 downstairs at night on the couch. I would get my juice from the refrigerator, put in a wrestling tape, and fall asleep watching it. Hardcore fan, imo.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

Round 1, Pick 7: The Undertaker

The Undertaker is one of the longest running, most talented, and decorated wrestlers to ever pass through the WWE. Here is a quick rundown of his accoplishments:

-One of only two wrestlers to have appeared on the first episode of RAW that are still with the company, Shawn Michaels being the other
-Has 4 distinct types of matches that are associated with him: The Casket Match, Buried Alive Match, Hell In A Cell, and the Last Ride Match
-Seven time World Champion
-17-0 record at WrestleMania
-Only man to win the Royal Rumble from the 30 spot
-Won the greatest match of all time, the Hell in a Cell match at King of the Ring 6 versus undrafted sock-loving freak
-He introduces new moves and routines into his arsenal every few years, adding to his longevity

He might lack the over-the-top personality some other guys have, but it has not mattered. He is still a major draw over 20 years after he got his start. He has incredible in-ring ability and plays off of those types (who will be available later) better than anyone else out there. Hell, if he was like that it would destroy his character, who is about understated terror. Over the years he has feuded with almost every major star to cross the WWE at some point. You don't get that kind of push without being a bankable personality, regardless of what kind it is. The WWE has also announced production of a feature movie (like 12 Rounds and a few others that are in production) based on the origins of his character.

Plus, this creeped me out severely when I was little:

In conclusion, he’s big, badass, scary, very talented and instantly recognizable as a major, major star.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

One value in VKM is there are almost no other guys with his skill set, maybe unnamed WCW guy, but he isn't nearly as good.

Conversely I think there are a lot of guys with similar skill sets to Taker, but he is the best of those guys, but i still think he is an overpick. It's almost like taking an elite RB in the first round of the NFL auction draft, he is really good, but there are more valuable positions.

Think you're underselling him quite a bit. He's been a cornerstone of the company since its inception and is still a huge star now. He's been in some of the greatest matches ever and has had feuds with pretty much every major star in the game.

Seriously, they wouldn't be trotting him out there decade after decade if he didn't have enormous appeal and ability. There's nobody like him that has worked anywhere nearly as long and with the success he has had out there.

Taker's a solid pick imo. Always delivers on the big stage, locker room leader, 2 distinct gimmicks, etc. He's been in the main event for 20 years ffs.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

And yeah my favorite part of watching wrestling growing up would be when there are a ton of shenanigans going on, people mouthing off or starting a fight or something, then the gong sounds and everything just stops. Then the lights went out and you knew **** was going down.

I mean, it's just another example that shows he can put on a great match on a very large stage for a very long time. Basically you aren't limited in what kind of matches you want to run at all with the Undertaker. He's a great athlete and very talented in the ring.

Youtube some of his Hell in a Cell matches.
