Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

The only problem with the Vince pick is that since you're the owner, he isn't going to be motivated to make you as much money as he made himself. However, if you just make him like an on screen president as a persona, he's still very valuable. He can also announce and wrestle and is just one entertaining mother ****er.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

The goal is to run the best wrestling promotion. Who does that better than VKM? The fact that he's such a good on screen character that PPV's headlined by him can get a buyrate of 1.2 and that he's won Feud of the Year three separate occasions is just gravy on top of the fact that he's the best promoter and easily one of the best if not the best bookers ever.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I think it's unfair to say that Vince "made" basically every wrestler in the draft. He puts them in positions to succeed but they still have to be good to get over with the fans. It seems way too easy to just credit Vince with all of WWE's success.

Also I really don't get why he's draftable as anything other than an on-screen personality, but I'm probably just not understanding the rules again.

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

My clear top 3 were:

1. Vince
2. Hogan
3. Flair

I think HBK, Stone Cold, and the Rock all make up the next tier along with 2 others. However, I don't think they come close to that top 3.

From wrestlingperspective.com:

Quote:
STEVE AUSTIN

A decent worker slowed over the years by injuries, he was headed to Mid-Card Land until he changed his image and became a fan favorite with an angle right out of a Johnny Paycheck song.

Although he is proof that wrestling could survive in popularity without Hogan at the helm, he owes his success in very large part to the help of Vince McMahon.

His drawing power remains strong, but not as good as when he was the Johnny Paycheck character versus the Boss From Hell, Mr. McMahon. He is said to be the biggest moneymaker in the history of the promotion, but Austin peaked after a couple of years and is clearly on the downswing. In large part this is due to injuries and a rotating character. Fans just didn’t take to Austin as a heel, whereas the change of style injected new life into Hogan’s character.

Austin’s t-shirts remain popular among fans and non-fans alike, mainly because he unveils a new design every so often.

Be careful here. You don't get him to run your organization. You still have to do that. You have to figure out ways to use him to make your organization great. You don't just have Vince to be what he was in real life. He's not the owner, you are.

I don't really care about how the wrestlers were once perceived since that all goes out the window when we have a completely new promotion from scratch.
I'm pretty sure you're misunderstanding the rules then because it definitely matters how they were once perceived(at least as far as I understood it).

Re: Professional Wrestling Promotion Draft

I agree that Vince had a big part in "making" Austin because of their lengthy feud. I don't think you can say he "made" anyone else. I think a lot of Vince's value is tied into being an owner and not so much stuff that's actually important in this draft.

Every draft we've done, we've gotten the talent or the person, not their careers. I figured it'd be a similar thing here.

Yeah I agree. But I'm unclear on what he "does" in this draft. I figured we would be the "owners" of our promotions and basically be doing most of what Vince does. He has a lot of value as an announcer/heel character guy, but aren't we the ones presumably making most of the business and booking decisions?

Undertaker is definitely fine here. The guy has just been a consistent superstar for a sick amount of time. He also does some pretty remarkable things in the ring for his size.

Meh, I think there's a couple guys that are clearly better right now. He just doesn't have the personality that a lot of guys have.

He doesn't have the personality yet he still participated in some of the best story lines throughout the years. He was definitely scary to any 8 year old back in the day and he definitely had an ability to make it seem real.

He was pretty horrible when he became a biker though. That was towards when I stopped watching.

this, i think the only drawback is that he's a bit one-dimensional compared to a couple of the undrafted wrestlers in the same tier. i guess if you can do it well though it doesn't matter too much.
