As mentioned, I think Sherri works well there for him because he can pair her with Shelton and really get him going.

while true, williams did have a good run in Mid-South as a top of the card guy and had a good run in NWA/WCW with the Varsity Club and with Terry Gordy as his tag mate. Obviously the best miracle violence connection stuff was in AJPW, but they had some real good matches in 90 and 91 before Gordy's OD on the plane to tokyo

are you thinking of the Kawada/Taue-Kobashi/Misawa tag match? The big one involving those four is one of the best tag matches ever.

The 93 Kobashi-Williams match is a great match, but I don't think its held up as well as some of the other AJPW stuff. There's obviously three massive spots where kobashi gets put on his head from teh backdrop driver, but that match was before Kobashi really honed his in ring psychology. His 10/31/98 match against Misawa is absolutely insane and his 6/6/99 match against Misawa is amazing too

Hugely talented on the mic and one of the best modern-era heels, Kennedy further expands the heavyweight division for my promotion. Though his stay in WWE was short-lived, his gimmick really grew in a small amount of time and Kennedy was able to stand out from the rest of the roster with sold in-ring skills and entertaining promos.

It is just such a shame that Kennedy got injured when he did. He was easily one of my favourite performers at the time.

btw the person who I had in mind when I asked the question a while back as to how injury history would be conisdered in this draft was Kennedy

Spoiler:
Sable

My promotion needed a good-looking valet/manager/diva/eye candy and Sable is definitely that. Much like other undrafteds, what Sable lacks in mic talent, she more than makes up for in charisma. Also, being Lesnar's real-life wife adds to storyline value later.

My promotion to date:
Stone Cold Steve Austin
Brock Lesnar
AJ Styles
Lance Storm
Arn Anderson
Mr. Kennedy
Sable

Yeah it's mostly a matter of fit at this point. With the double picks I probably didn't have another chance to get her and she's probably the best manager available (I prefer female managers though).

I'm also basically clueless as to which female is better, since it seems like everyone agreed women's wrestling was useless here.

6/9/95 is the one featuring those four, widely considered the best tag match in AJPW history. 6/7/96 and 12/6/96 are the other two matches widely praised also.

Kobashi/Williams was too long, 42 minutes, IIRC. Kobashi had a great match against Hansen earlier that year, which still holds up and is my fave match ever. Kobashi/Williams had some weird stuff. Getting up from the backdrop driver, as you mentioned. There's also a spot where Kobashi is on the top rope. Williams is far in the other corner. The ref says something to Williams and Williams rolls closer to Kobashi! Kobashi then does his splash. Way too blatant.

Actually, now that I looked it up, I was thinking of the 9/3/94 Kobashi/Williams match. I don't think I've ever seen a '93 match between those two.

I posted the 93 Kobashi-Williams match, about 25 minutes long.

I had Mr. Kennedy at the top of my board but when I read through the wiki and saw WWE released him, that made me drop him. The injury really is a shame.

Ron Simmons is a great pick, I think he's kind of a steal this late. Was definitely #1 on my board

the 93 match is where he took the backdrop driver on his head three times

Work in Japan counts for like the zillionth time. Guys just need to have worked in America to be eligible.

Nothing "counts." Nobody gets anyone's actual accomplishments and work. You just get the guy himself. However, if some work in japan goes to show something about a certain person, you can certainly use it to argue why he will help your stable.

Also, by "worked in America" we mean "more than the odd match here and there" ... we already had that discussion.

Yes, I was responding to "Williams did most of his best work in Japan, but". There is no reason for a but to be there, providing he worked enough in the US to qualify, which he did.
