UWA World Trios Championship (1 time)

With Pick #120 of the draft, the UWF selects

Spoiler:

Gorilla Monsoon was with the WWF from the inception. As their first superstar heel, Monsoon battled with rival Bruno Sammartino for years. Despite being a grotesque 400+ pounds, Monsoon showed incredible stamina, athleticism, and workmanship in the ring. He'd often battle to one-hour time limit draws.

Monsoon showed his versatility by becoming one of the most beloved faces of the 70s. His dedication to the business is nearly unmatched. In 1980, he allowed Hulk Hogan to embarrass him in under a minute in front of his hometown audience. They were outraged and flipped over Hogan’s car outside of the arena. He obviously had a pretty strong ability to get people over.

After his wrestling career, Monsoon continued to demonstrate value to the WWF. He had a reign as President and a very successful commentating career. As a face commentator, we feel he is a perfect contrast to Lawler. We now have the undisputed best booth in the draft at this point and didn’t even need to sacrifice a pick as both guys were very accomplished in the ring.

Federation So Far:

Jerry “The King” Lawler
Jeff Hardy
Scott Steiner/Big Poppa Pump
The Ultimo Dragon

With the 121st overall pick, UWF selects...

Spoiler:

Tito Santana

Tito's career spanned from 1977 to 1996 with an appearance in 2000 in which he defeated Jeff Jarrett on an episode of Nitro.

Tito spent 1979 to 1993 in the WWF. There he became a fan favorite and proved himself initially as a great singles wrestler. He won the Intercontinental Championship on two separate occasions (back when it was HUGE).

In the late 80s, Tito proved himself to be a capable tag team partner on the popular tag team of Strike Force. In a short span he and undrafted were 2-time champions.

Following the break-up of Strike Force, Tito again became a popular singles wrestler under the El Matador gimmick. The gimmick was less than successful, but Tito was popular nonetheless.

We believe that Tito's popularity makes him a great pick this late. He was a good in-ring wrestler and a notoriously hard worker. He never got the push for the championship belt, but he was a great, popular middle-card face who held the IC belt when the IC title was at its peak. Tito is the type of guy that every great federation needs. With Tito Santana, we get just that.

Federation So Far:

Jerry “The King” Lawler
Jeff Hardy
Scott Steiner/Big Poppa Pump
The Ultimo Dragon
Gorilla Monsoon

damn you, damn you to hell. I was gonna pitch these two to deezy for the next round

Wow @ Yokozuna being picked. I don't think at face value its a horrible pick, but right when you pick ricky morton and not finish off teaming up the RnR express is just a whole lot of bad IMO. I'm not the biggest yokozuna fan on the whole, but he did have enough of a run to get picked at a later stage, but man, that's a whole lot of fail on those two picks when you combine them

yea, picking morton and then not finishing the team shocked me.

and as far as the machine guns, i thought it could have been a bit of a reach, but all the tag teams i was hoping for were cut in half last round. and the guns are quality both in ring and on the mic.

Why can't he just pick him later? I think it's a huge mistake to take the lessor member of a tagteam just to take them together. For example, Demoltion Smash is one of the worst picks in the draft at #111. Would anyone have taken him for a few rounds? Almost certainly not, so why not take one of the very good solo guys and take Smash later? Same can be said for most tagteams.

I think its kind of scummy and cheating the draft to take one now and one later and f you on the tito pick. I debated between demolition and tito and undrafted. Thought Demolition was certaintly getting taken if I took someone else

It's not cheating at all. The double-pick rounds aren't called the tagteam rounds, and LOD has already been broken up so it's a legit risk. Just one of the reasons why I wanted tagteams to be allowed to be drafted together. I'm not complaining though as the current rules have worked out well imo.

I still think making your own tag teams is way more interesting than drafting an established one.

I see both ways. Like obv No one is taking undrafted to go with cruizins pick, I know I could have gotten Demolition Ax or Smash later but I didnt like the way that felt. Also, Demolition was not possible to wait on because someone could have taken smash and undrafted and screwed me

+1, plus I think people are putting a little too much value in the actual teams. There's huge value in just knowing that a guy can be effective as a tag team member. Not everyone can, and you can point to a lot of failed experiments as evidence. There's nothing, for example, preventing us from putting Tito Santana and Scott Steiner together on a team.

Meh, only kinda agree on splitting up a tag team. You can't just put two big guys together and call them Demolition, and you also can't just take Bill Eadie and some other guy and call that an awesome tag team too. Modern era tag teams though I think can be broken up rather easily though. Bubba can be paired with any rando hardcore guy and you will have a solid tag team.
