yea, switching the CruiserWeight title to the 100KG and under title was just subtlety brilliant, and got sooooooooooo much heat. The guy was a heat magnet in dying WCW and if they had survived, he would've done some really good things there

Storm/Styles Writeup:

I drafted both guys with the same idea in mind: Athletic mid carders that could contend for the heavyweight strap down the road but be a strong mainstay just below the marquee talent. Both Storm and Styles have immense in-ring talent and I would go as far to say that Storm is on par with both Owen and Bret on the technical aspect. As I said before, Storm was horribly misused in WWE, but that was Vince's fault for ****ing up the Invasion story line from moment 1. Styles, while being used correctly in TNA, has also put together some fantastic 5 star matches with Joe and Daniels, while contending with the big boys like Angle and Jarrett. I really believe a promotion should be balanced and what these guys bring to the table (5 star match potential) is hard to find, especially from a scientific aspect.

I have no clue what to do now... shoulda just drafted Styles instead of trading down.

I never liked Storm. I recognized he was good in the ring, but he just came off like such a dick. He wasn't a good heel. He made me dislike him not in a way that I wanted to see him wrestle and lose, but that I didn't want to see him at all.

You can PM people your top two picks. That way you'll be guaranteed to make a selection.

I'll be shocked if the draft actaully gets to me tonight. (probably too man East Coasters, though)

Based on his past picks, I'd be very surprised if Rat took my guy. I'll be up for like a half hour more I guess.

Storm and DDP are both guys that fell a ton thanks to their misuse in the WWE.

Terrible WWE DDP Promo

This period was just painful to watch. It didn't get him over as a heel, those who didn't know who he was were just wondering who is this freak.

Better WWE DDP Promo

Spoiler:

Dean Malenko
One of the best technical wrestlers of all time and another guy who can work as either a face or a heel. Going into the draft I wasn't sure if his popularity ever matched his skill, but he was #1 on the PWI top 500 one year and has a wrestling observer newsletter feud of the year under his belt. I don't know if he's the strongest on the mic, but I have pretty sick promo guys already. He should put on epic matches with Owen and Daniels and can probably work with The Rock as well.

Promotion so far:
The Rock
Owen Hart
Christopher Daniels
Dean Malenko

Probably a reach but I'm super tired and he seems to fit my stable well enough.

i love malenko, but yea, he's very early, especially when there are some major 70s and early 80s guys left out there

to me malenko would be the focal point of a great jr HW division, but not picked this early. I feel that right now we are still picking guys who should be top guys, or at least we hope to be top guys, and Malenko never really proved that. Of course, you're garunteed that he'll put on really good to great matches. Everyone should get the complete dean vs eddie tape that the douchebag rob feinstein has made(really, probably one of the few times that I'd advocate anyone giving that ****er any money)

You read some interesting stuff when you start researching random guys. I just read about Hogan insisting he lose to a guy who was never very big in this guy's home country. This was in the late 90s. Hard to picture it.

When I was like 10 I put my friend in a Texas Cloverleaf. He cried and told his mom on me and I got in trouble. I was always a big fan of that move.

Yeah there's probably better old guys left, but I just don't think they're very good in this. Wrestling has evolved so much. And I definitely don't feel remotely comfortable evaluating anyone from that time, so meh.

Didn't think there was anyone left with a really good all around skills package. Malenko's character doesn't need to do The Rock style promos to be effective.

I always thought Malenko was somewhat overrated. I can't believe he was No. 1 in the PWI 500 one year.

Arite, gimme 3 minutes to finish this. I guess it's not a homer pick, but it's still someone I love who probably "sucks" in the eyes of most

sarcastic rat, i just PM'd you my thought and yea, there is one guy that is one of the sicker wrestlers that I've seen that hasn't been picked. He may be an older guy, but I think today he could work as he had a great amateur pedigree, and has a "real" aura to him that can work with MMA getting more and more into the wider culture

Yeah I'm not that ecstatic about the pick but he'll be a good contributor. This is like the hardest part of the draft for me, where we need to find solid guys who weren't really main eventers and have various flaws but can't start busting out crazy sleepers quite yet.

EDIT: Also researching this one is a pain in the ass, since it's impossible to tell if a bunch of older guys were really athletic/good workers or not based on a wikipedia article and other random stuff.

With the 66th pick, I’m going big, with a man who has been involved in the Main Event at Wrestlemania a staggering 3 times!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSIbJ...eature=related

Spoiler:

The master and rule of the world. Psycho Sid.
Quite simply, this man has it all
Promos - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1lnI_UZdtU
Skits- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldwMw0fO5Fo
Durability - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtDVp3T3t9s

Vince McMahon got taken in the first round cause he’s a wrestling genius, but I think I can sum up 90% of his approach with one sentence: People like seeing big giant freaks beat the crap out of each other. And Sid is definitely a big giant freak.

Personality/Look/Draw: Every fed needs a monster, imo. A guy who can run through jobbers like no other and always come off as a credible challenger just through sheer size. Sid is huge. He’s crazy. His promo style is unmatched for intensity, and he’s even got a few catch phrases. He’ll scare the little kids and make the older guys laugh at how ridiculous he is, which are really the two core audiences and approaches for drawing. He’s pretty slim and cut for a big guy too, and doesn’t just look like a big galoot.

In-Ring: OK, he pretty much sucks. But honestly, he really only needs to have like 2 good matches a year. And if he’s working with talents like HBK and Rude, and a planner like DDP, I figure the rest of the time he can run through jobbers and jump on cars and scream and no one will notice. That being said, he does do all the “classic” power moves.

Fit: I think I got 4 viable guys I can plug into the main event of a show, and they all fill slightly different roles. He’s worked a program with HBK before, and they could go to town on that. . A lot of people say his match with HBK where he was supposed to be a heel and got cheered for braining Jose Lothario signaled a sea change into the Attitude Era. Honestly, I just think his promos are hilarious and he’s just such a ridiculous over the top character that I had to have him in the fed
