I kinda co-sign, but there is something to be said for an "it" factor to star power that some guys just have, and that's not about technical skills.

eta- I am very intentionally responding to this quote out of context just to make a point I wanted to make.
I think this is probably correct for the 2+2 demographic but there is still a massive market for wrestling amongst kids who don't care about wrestling ability (and are thus also less interested in mma)

I watched a Rock video earlier with this crack on Lilian Garcia: "Her last job was at a sperm bank. She got fired for drinking on the job." :-O

Spoiler:

]Jeff Hardy knew what he wanted to do at a very young age and worked harder than anyone to get there. Not blessed with the size of most Professional Wrestling Superstars, Hardy had to rely on risking his body night in and night out doing death-defying stunts. When he finally got the break he’d always dreamed of with the WWE, he made it count. Quickly becoming a force in the tag team division, Hardy dazzled crowds in Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches.

He is a six-time WWE Tag Team Champion and captured the WCW Tag Team Championship once. He’s a four-time Intercontinental Champion, Lightweight Champion, European Champion, and Hardcore Champion. The guy can do it all, but people often wondered if he would ever be rewarded with the HW title.

Finally, in December of 2008, after years of hard work and dedication, he defeated Edge and HHH in a Triple-Threat match to win his first World Title and prove his status as a true Main Eventer.

Hardy puts on some of the most entertaining matches in wrestling history and has always been a tremendous fan favorite. His love of the industry projects him to end up with a pretty lengthy career.

Organization so far:
Sting
Jerry "The King" Lawler
Jeff Hardy

Love it this late. I honestly thought he'd go much earlier and then I'd probably hate it. But 50 picks in? Sweet.

spoiler fail, but that was my back up pick if you took mine.

punk vs hardy feud was just done, but it was high quality.

A lot of these picks have recency bias to them.

Jeff Hardy's not a terrible pick, but I can think of someone else who is very similar and has worked with Hardy a lot that I'd take over him in a heartbeat. Still just seems like a little bit of a reach.

If it's who I think, it's someone I really want (but no chance in hell it happens).

Not surprising to me...for me it's hard to take a guy I never saw wrestle once over guys who I've seen wrestle hundreds of times

I really wouldn't even have thought twice if Hardy went ahead of RVD and you took RVD in the first round. He's just as entertaining and has proven he can wrestle in PPV Main Events.

For me it's both recency and personal bias. I've watched a fair number of matches with some of the 70s guys, and I just don't find it nearly as entertaining.

Was probably taking Hardy if he fell to me in like 10 or whatever picks

There is nothing wrong with recency bias. Things get better as times advance.

Also guys in the 1960s didn't backflip off ladders through two tables.

With our third pick, Rhino Wrestling Promotions is proud to select:

INTRO

Spoiler:

This guy is huge value at this point. It has become clear that I am looking for guys who can sell my brand, not only in the ring, but on the mic.

He is the longest reigning Intercontinental champion of all time, and a very entertaining character. He also had a pretty good feud with the Macho Man, and can easily have good matches with Roberts. I also plan to make him an announcer once he is done wrestling because I think his talents would lend themselves to that role.

Stable so far:
Macho Man Randy Savage
Jake the Snake Roberts
Honky Tonk Man

Don't get me wrong, I love backflips off ladders through tables ... but I sometimes miss the days when two guys didn't need any of that to tell a hell of a story in the ring.

I think there's a ton of people who do what Hardy does a lot better than Hardy, and actually show up to work. He's kindof like Rey, in that he's unique in the WWE because there's only room for one of him in the WWE, but that when you've got the world of wrestling available to you, he's not that special.

I also love the Vince/Goldberg pairing. Goldberg's lack of mic skills won't be exposed because Vince is so awesome on the mic.
