I debated that. Looking at the talent available and NOT available, I don't think it's possble for us to build the best all-around roster at this point. I'm reasonably confident we can build a very solid roster though (we have a plan for that), but we're going to need some help getting it to another level. I think Ross can push it to another level with his skills.

I happen to think most wrestling fans completely underestimate the impact great announcing can have on a company. But I don't expect everyone to agree or like the pick.

Actually, a bunch of the guys taken have announcing history now that I think about it. Macho did it for a while, Foley was pretty good when he was on SD for a year or so, and Dusty...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwOIavellt4

I always liked this intro:

The music is meh, but those surprise intros where you know who it is within 0.5 seconds are cool.

I'm pretty sure I agree more with antidan than with Dynasty here.

Everyone forgetting the original RAW play-by-play announcer? We got him, imo.

I expect we're done with picks for the night. So, everybody might as well make a 1-21 ranking of the first two rounds.

My view was that your first two picks is essentially your best main event.

I thought Ross was a 3rd or 4th round pick. I also had him #2 in the non-male wrestler category after Vince. Hopefully the Jim Ross gimmick will show up in this thread, he was hilarious.

5 duos I like so far, in no particular order:

Owen + the Rock - Real chance to reform the Nation
Punk + Steamboat - Feud over who does less drugs
Sting + Lawler - Sting/Flair redux
Jericho + Piper - All interview segments, all the time
Hitman + Edge - #1 in Canada

I thought JR was fine here. He really is the voice of WWE and one of the greatest wrestling annoucers out there. I mean, buiness is about to pick up! I'm cooking some food right now but I'd love to hear why some people don't like it. We actually have a pretty good sleeper lineup/idea going and our first 4 picks will completely contridict that. That being said, we felt that the Orton/Benoit/JR brings to the table, the others can't. However, the others can bring stuff that we like although the mic skills isn't there.

We're lacking on mic skills and drawing power. Mic skills I think we can fix. Drawing power ... not so much but that wasn't going to change at this point anyway. I know we'll have a fun organization to watch when we're done though.

BTW I am starting on my duo rankings ... a little taste of what I'll drop tomorrow:

Austin/Lesnar
DRAWING POWER: Austin 10, Lesnar 8
IN-RING WORK: Austin 7, Lesnar 8
MIC SKILLS: Austin 8, Lesnar 4
CHARISMA: Austin 10, Lesnar 7
LONGEVITY: Austin 7, Lesnar 2
TOTAL POINTS: 70

Yep, doing it for everyone (Except for McMahon because I can't judge that the same way).

Did you seriously just rank Lesnar as a better worker than Austin?

Yes. Barely. Once Austin lost his knees he wasn't great. Then again all I've watched of Lesnar were his best matches, I had stopped watching regularly at that point, so the bad ones I didn't see I suppose.
